The Greek players don't play well with Giannis' style. They did really well against Slovenia and others to qualify, without Giannis playing. Half the team plays for Panathinaikos which just won the European Championship, including Giannis's brother Kostas. So--as far as Int'l bball goes, they have plenty of talent, but they've never meshed with Giannis, and likely never will.
Both Greece and France have somewhat of a get it to their star in the high post and get out the way offense.

I have a tough time watching Olympic hoops right now. Second Olympics in a row my guys from Lithuania flamed out in the qualifiers. This time losing to Puerto Rico in Puerto Rico in the FIBA finals three weeks ago. And with their full squad including Sabonis and Valančiūnas. Ugggh. It's like the NCAA tourney without UConn for me. :(

Watched some of France v Brasil & most of Japan v Germany, Japan was plucky & Deutschland didn’t need to try too hard. Brazil hung around cuz Knick castaway Frankie N is a lead guard for the frogs. That said both were more like a mature or all star NCAA game. Hopefully gets better as tourney goes on.

KD is insane. Might just be the best US Olympic mens basketball player in history

USA still doesn’t look like they’re taking the games seriously. If they lose this summer, it’s because they’re underestimating everybody

Bron has taken over. KD is gonna mask so many of the deficiencies like he has done in every FIBA comp he has played in
Posted this earlier last week, seen it too many times, he's a halfcourt offense just by himself with his ridiculous shotmaking.
US keeps having 2-3 minute stretches where they get super careless with the ball and stagnant and it keeps preventing them from breaking open the games.

Now we know what the US was missing in those exhibition games. Where would the team be without KD!!

For people who watch more FIBA basketball than me what is the argument for Embiid being on the court?
His defense is a humongous negative when the opposition moves a lot without the ball. Embiid simply cannot close down spaces nor can help and recover on defense. Forget recover, he cannot help either. Hopefully Davis can stay out of foul trouble.

Zero, only reason he's playing is because they lobbied so hard for him to join the team so they don't want to completely waste his time
Hes the worst kind of center for this team.

Isn’t super focused on defense and rebounding. Not much of an above the rim player for lobs. Needs to take a high volume of shots to be effective. He can space the floor somewhat but he’s not a knockdown shooter if he’s not in a rhythm.

Way better off sticking with AD and Bam.

Serbia because when it matters Joker wteam ill make everyone on that team better when they are on the court with him.tea
Is a 26 point win over the team you thought had the best chance to beat them good enough for you to stop worrying yet? They haven't won the gold yet but they certainly should.

Silly that people were making proclamations before KD had played a minute when he's the best FIBA player the US has ever had

KD did look pretty good ;)

USA did a great job defending joker, he was way less involved offensively vs Denver version of Joker. Denver would similarly beat Serbia easily.

Kerr is an idiot for not giving Tatum any minutes. It's fine if he wants to start KD, but not putting him in to spell the 2nd unit just embarrassed a Top 5 Player and reigning NBA champ.
