OLIVIA Vukosa and Lena Bilic will lead Croatia vs Egypt tonight at 7:30 pm Same time
as the USA vs France game. As it stands now ..Olivia is #1 in
the Tournament in Efficiency: 26.4 per game, # 1 in
Rebounds 15.0 RPG, # 1 in Blocks 2.4 per game, and you
guessed it # 1 in double doubles in the tournament. Go Olivia!!.
Add to those stats against Egypt!! Go Huskies!
Consider staying up for Spain vs Canada
at 10:30 tonight.... truly a great matchup! Winner
will take on the juggernaut USA U 17 team tomorrow
after the USA disposes of FRANCE (IMHO).

The Croatian H.C. started playing
her bench players at the start of the
second period. Soon after the Egyptian
Coach had ( I believe ) mostly bench
players in the game. Thus, a little more
ragged. I just hope that OLIVIA plays
enough to get another DOUBLE DOUBLE
to add to herTournament leading DD stat.

night.. The logical choice is NEW ZEALAND with
their leader Bailey Flavell who is averaging 20.2 ppg

THE CROATIA H.C. left her in to get the necessary rebound
then, appropriately, rested her for the remainder of the game.
OLIVIA's stats: 18 points on 7/13 shooting, 5/10 from 2 point
range, 2/3 from three point range. Two fouls, One turnover,
no steals ( I did see one!) of 21. TOMORROW CROATIA
PLAYS FOR Ninth Place in the U 17 tournament. GO CROATIA
NO OLIVIA.

Stat wise she’s good. And yet I think she could be better.

Yes, Big O will get stronger and become quicker, both helping her offense and defense. She is already one of the best players in her age group with great upside.

five offensive. Olivia is 4/8 on field goal attempts and
11 for 12 from the FOUL LINE! Taipei is
trying to contain her but the REFS are
calling the fouls/ holds/ etc. Olivia
may foul out half the Taipei team!
Olivia ONE assist, no fouls, two
turn overs, one steal ( Olivia also had
another nice deflection and dove
for the ball for a tie up!! NICE!! )
THREE BLOCKS, and an "" RATING OF 32.
A MONSTER GAME FOR THE " BIG O".
Note Taipei started this quarter with a 6 -0
run, and Croatia responsed with a 8-0 run
of their own...GOOD POISE!

OLIVIA with 31 points in 36 minutes of playing time.
Also 24 rebounds with 7 offensive rebounds and
17 defensive rebounds, three fouls, three steals, 6
turnovers, 6 blocked shots and an rating
of FIFTY ( 50 ) not an error = FIFTY!
OLIVIA WAS BEING MAULED! But to her
credit she has a calm demeanor and can
take the hits, the holds, the wrestling tieups
with almost a STOIC demeanor. Incredible!
The whole Croatian team did not lose their
cool. It takes a certain type of team
discipline to defeat teams like Taipei.
On to USA vs Canada!!
P.S. OLIVIA should end up # 1 in
this tournament on Rebounds, # 1 for Blocks,
# 1 for double doubles and and # 1 on Efficiency rating.

Correction: The Croatian team was the NINTH-PLACE finisher in the tournament, not the
Overall 5th Place winners. The Australians with Lara Somfai were the winners of FIFTH PLACE over Japan.
Other Awards not noted above: Olivia Vukosa was placed on the "ALL SECOND TEAM /
Second Best Team" along with Jordyn Palmer of the USA. The " BIG O" was also awarded the
FIBA U 17 Tournament's "BEST DEFENSIVE PLAYER" with her # 1 performance in
the TOURNAMENT for BLOCKED SHOTS and Defensive Rebounds. Olivia had the most
82 defensive rebounds for the tournament, 11.9 defensive rebounds "per game". She also had 18 total blocks
in the tournament, which was, of course, best for blocks per game 2.6, but to
be accurate NOT best for a hypothetical 40-point game average.
To continue my obsession: Olivia made the most FREE THROW ATTEMPTS and
the MOST free throws " made" : 63 attempts and 50 made (not nearly the highest
percentage wide.)... I.E. she was fouled "A LOT" and made "A LOT" of the Free throws
including her 13/15 in her final game against Taipei. Jerzy ROBINSON for TEAM USA was #2 in
free throw attempts and free throws made at 59 attempts and 44 made free throws.
