Dook is long and talented, but they lack a good point guard. They’ve got Flagg handling the ball half the time and it’s lead to a number of turnovers. Honestly, their roster scared me, but seeing them now we are WAY deeper. I think the Karaban/McNeeley combo is as good or better than Flagg/Kneupfel, and we’re deeper and better at pretty much every other position.

Duke has 2 turnovers? They had one in the first half. This is what’s known as positionless basketball, same concept Hurley would look to employ with Ross/Liam/Ball.

They go 8 deep. And the 3 bench guys all older experienced guys with a specific purpose. I doubt DH goes much deeper than 9 when it’s all said and done, if not 8.

Dukes weakness is that their 2 guards (foster and proctor) can disappear for stretches. If I was matching up with them I’d put best defender on Kneuppel, let Flagg shoot threes and make the other guys beat you.

scheyer is the new Cal. Unbelievable talent level, and he does nothing to help them. UK are physically outmatched by a mile and just playing way harder than duke. And if duke is struggling with this level of physicality, auburn will put them in a body bag.

Gonna be interesting to see how a young team like Duke holds up in the last 5 in what has been a very physical game. Especially now that it’s close. You can see a little tilt on loose balls, rebounds and getting back in transition in the last few minutes in UKs favor. Duke also settling for jumpers.

And Duke gifted a 3 point ghost foul.

I know. It’s because he had to build a team of all transfers in 2 months lol. It’s definitely not Kentucky level talent
Did what he had to in a transition year in the portal era, and did a pretty good job. It will look a lot different going forward for Pope, as likely to have the 2nd best class this year after Duke. I would buy stock now on Pope. I think he’s gonna be an annual contender once settled.

What a game so far - Flagg is REALLY good for 17! Not that we didn’t know that.

Can you even begin to imagine this team with Cooper Flagg? Lololol

Another turnover by Flagg that may cost Dook the game

You can sense that one thing Pope instructed is his players to swipe and poke at Flaggs dribble. Seen it a few times tonight where it appears an intentonal strategy. Big dudes that put the ball on the floor a lot tend to have a high dribble.
