2025-26 roster:

Ashlyn Watkins-Sr
Maryam Dauda-Sr
Chloe Kitts-Sr
Tessa Johnson-Jr
Milaysia Fulwiley-Jr
Joyce Edwards-So
Adhel Tac-So
Maddie McDanuel-So
Ayla McDowell-Fr
Agot Makeer-Fr

Potentially returning: Raven Johnson, Sr

4 or 5 open scholarships for next year. I’m guessing Dawn picks up a couple of portal players especially considering Watkins is coming off an ACL

Yikes... good for her obviously. But not a fan of this overall.
So, she's going to be paid more than a star Texas volleyball player or a standout Oklahoma softball player? Am I wrong to expect Asjia O'Neal/Jocelyn Alo-level accomplishments?

She'd better deliver NATIONAL championships like those programs have done recently. That's "face of WBB" money.

Same sentiments here, and that’s why I’m wondering if this $1.5m is really true. I do wish her well, wherever she decides to go for school.

Same--I wish her well. I'm also not against a young woman trying to get paid. It's the people willing to pay that have my head spinning.

Let's say Aaliyah chooses Texas. If she's worth $1.5 million, then how much is Madison Booker gonna command? Because if I'm Madison Booker and I've won POY awards in TWO conferences (as an underclassman), I'm not getting paid less than an unproven freshman.

If we stick to hoops, neither Bueckers nor Clark delivered a national championship despite their large NIL deals.

Bueckers still could. That said, Geno didn't promise her a bag to get her to sign with Connecticut.

Bluder didn't throw $1.5 million at Clark to get her to sign at Iowa.

A better comparison would be JuJu (WCBB's new face), but she has (in theory) three NCAA Tournaments to get it done.

Yes?

1.5 sounds crazy, but I already assumed she would obviously be paid more than a star volleyball or softball player, for the same reason she’s going to be paid less than a star quarterback.

Whoa whoa whoa. Unless you have Hermione's timeturner (in which case, can I bet on the ponies with you?), Bueckers still has a shot at a Natty this season!

And, you mentioning O'Neal and Alo falls into the same point which is why it made zero sense that you mentioned them originally. Neither of those volleyball or softball players enrolled in college at a time when NIL was used to recruit players out of high school. Neither probably got NIL until the latter parts of their college careers, and most likely not at the level these new star athletes are getting.

No "whoa". My point is accurate based on present date. And, the poster mentioned "championships" (plural) . . .

And, hoops is basically the biggest women's collegiate sport as far as television ratings.

Bueckers and Clark made their own NIL and built their own "name" and popularity for actual real companies to pay for their name. I think I'd throw JuJu into being close to that also. The million dollar stuff thrown around now is just pay-for-play from collectives.

That's my point. This "pay for play" nonsense for players unproven in WCBB is indefensible IMO, but I suppose the fan bases of those left in the "sweepstakes" will try their best.
