why do people think texas to the Big is a forgone conclusion. They could have gone prior to the GOR but they didn't.
Texas is a big fish in a small pond playing with other small fish. There is a reason Texas stayed put earlier. why would they join a conference where they would lose their stature as the big boy.

you have to look deeper... This is the genius of Delaney.
Assuming the $2K stipend which has been mentioned, that covers roughly 50,000 student athletes.
The BIG doesn't have 50,000 athletes today, but if they expand by 1 or 2 or maybe 20 schools, you can get the picture.

If that's the case, Uconn probably gets mentioned as #33 or #34. And cue FTT to explain why Uconn isn't that high...

I agree. I think the B1G's "everyone is equal" policy are the major turnoffs for schools like ND and Texas. They would never admit it publicly but I think both schools believe that they are special enough that they deserve extra consideration. To be in a conference as equals is probably a foreign concept to them.

The funny thing is Tulane is the running BY joke.
If we had Tulane endowment numbers and their AAU status we would already be in the B1G.

After 5 minutes of listening to that clown the other night the only thing set in stone his that big rock in his head.

The good news is he will never be right on anything so for those clinging to hope, hang in there.
 
Once you mention Air Force you know it can't be true... they would never give money to their players. Nor would the players take it. That is not what those fine men and women are there for. Still don't get why this would happen now and not earlier when first proposed? How is this good for Uconn... sure the football league
looks better but adding schools with horrible academics will be a bad move. Plus Cincy is gone to Big 12. I am certain of it once this D4 takes place. You want to see Uconn out on an even "bigger island" try that league on for size. Only way is to do football only and the rest find a better basketball league.

Aren't all service academy students considered on active duty and actually earn a salary while in school.
So their players are already bring paid.

24 hours is a long time. Maybe the big ten is done "vetting" UConn. I wish I coulda heard the radio show, just to put in perspective what were dealing with.

Oh, there is truth in what he says. He makes up enough BS for 1% of it to wind up being related to the truth. But you're right that the rest of it is to get people to follow, retweet and repost his BS. That's why he mentions as many different schools as possible - like Air Force - to get a wider audience.

Totally understandable. Wasn't really taking issue with it being posted as much showing as it's shaky info.

I know for certain the Big Ten has done research on Connecticut, Oklahoma and Florida State. And none of the three are AAU members. So right away, his comment "B1G source says conf has only done due diligence on potential members who have AAU status. Will not consider those not AAU" is mistaken.

Absolutely right. AAU and contiguous state are desirable factors but not an absolute requirement.

"There are no restrictions regarding expansion - potential additions are not required to be in the AAU, and they do not have to be in (or adjacent to) the eight Big Ten states," league spokesman Scott Chipman wrote in an e-mail. Removing the AAU and geographic limitations means the Big Ten can add any school from anywhere in the country.
