Nothing is imminent... Texas would jump to the B1G if they could escape from the GOR and figure out what to do with the LHN...

Wait... the Dude says we were in clandestined meetings with MWC schools. We are also being vetted by the biG and Big 12. That my friends is covering our bases.
1. This clandestined meeting does nothing for us basketball wise other then if CIncy is part of it and we add BYU. This also has to be a third choice and seems like a fall back if all else fails.
2. Second this group is not academically what this university wants to be tied to. I just don't see it happening. Who is even close to us in this situation. This move reeks of desperation on the Dude's part to say something new. It is a football fantasy situation and that is it unless we find a home for our olympic sports and basketball and the Big East is not going to want that. The football would be better, and leaving some of the dead weight is nice, but that is it.
3. THis new grouping would only be a holding place for the misfit toys until another group comes a knocking.
4. We have already been vetted by B1G, ACC, and Big 12 so this isn't news. Big 12 will never go 14 because Texas will be gone by then. If value of money coming in goes down they will claim that as their out. OK and Kansas too.

At the very least I hope out school gets into one of the three above at some point. Even a watered down Big 12 is better then what we have now or what the Dude is proposing. And though I hate to be the cloud that covers the little rain of sunshine but we have had everything fail up to this point so remember who the messenger is and wait for more credible people to chime in.

Well, the AAC is also a land of misfit toys. It is a question of whether there is a better group of misfit toys to hang with. No idea if there is but you have to explore. UConn has to evaluate the possibility of football independence as well. In addition to considering a full-fledged football league, it could be a possibility to create a "league" / consortium of football independents who help each other with scheduling. Each managing its own media rights. This would work for football, especially in a new D4 scenario where the major conference teams would need D4 out of conference opponents. The challenge becomes finding a home for the other sports.

why do people think texas to the Big is a forgone conclusion. They could have gone prior to the GOR but they didn't.
Texas is a big fish in a small pond playing with other small fish. There is a reason Texas stayed put earlier. why would they join a conference where they would lose their stature as the big boy.

you have to look deeper... This is the genius of Delaney.
Assuming the $2K stipend which has been mentioned, that covers roughly 50,000 student athletes.
The BIG doesn't have 50,000 athletes today, but if they expand by 1 or 2 or maybe 20 schools, you can get the picture.

If that's the case, Uconn probably gets mentioned as #33 or #34. And cue FTT to explain why Uconn isn't that high...

I agree. I think the B1G's "everyone is equal" policy are the major turnoffs for schools like ND and Texas. They would never admit it publicly but I think both schools believe that they are special enough that they deserve extra consideration. To be in a conference as equals is probably a foreign concept to them.

The B12 has basically the same agreement with 2 Universities now that it had with Louisville before they joied the ACC.

The funny thing is Tulane is the running BY joke.
If we had Tulane endowment numbers and their AAU status we would already be in the B1G.

After 5 minutes of listening to that clown the other night the only thing set in stone his that big rock in his head.

The good news is he will never be right on anything so for those clinging to hope, hang in there.
