The Big 12 is not subsidizing anything if we get a full media share. And the Baylor AD practically came out and said we WOULD be getting pro-rata.
The other thing that they can't get past is the stadium not being on campus. As if UConn is the only school that doesn't have a stadium on campus. I get so sick of the picking apart and knocking down UConn.
I agree. In terms of tv value, UConn men's and women's basketball are dragged down by the low value Big East teams. And football is dragged down because we are an independent... does anyone know what we get for men's basketball tv revenue, women's basketball tv revenue, and football tv revenue?

I'd take those figures and add a very nice percentage to provide a projected Big12 tv value. I bet it's damn close to 30m. Maybe something like this?:

Men's basketball: 13m
Women's basketball: 8m
Football: 9m
Total: 30m

Anybody want to kick the tires on this?

they live in a traditional world and cling to their traditional ways. And you know what, UConn does have a dysfunctional campus. Don't lie about it. Mansfield government should have been buffaloed long ago.

Yeah cause ESPN would rather have the MAC on Tuesdays and Wednesdays than the PAC 12.

Don’t you be ripping on MACtion! Where else can you get a November Game literally played in a blizzard with 6” of snow on the field on a Wednesday night.

That and MACtion costs a fraction of what the PAC is looking for.

It's literally never going to stop no matter what happens. I'm convinced we could win 16 games over our next two seasons and the narrative won't change.

The reality is that it's an easy way for people on the internet to get some attention and dopamine.

It gets complicated just adding UConn. Don't ask me why, cause I don't know if it's media partners or school presidents. All I know is if Colorado joins UConn is 14.
Good Lord here I am agreeing with a Kansas fan. But this is what I said all along. UConn only if it's Colorado (and just Colorado).

UConn brings more to the Big 12 than BYU, Houston, Cincinnati and UCF brought to the Big 12.
UCF, probably yes. Had we won #5 sooner, we might have replaced UCF. The others? Nope. Vastly better football, and evidently BYU was critical to the new TV deal. BYU has a lot of TV pull.

That move was purely football. BYU the only brand. Still annoys me UCF is P5.
Say what you want about UCF but they invested in football wisely. Hired Frost who was a homerun there and followed up with Malzahn. Paid good money. UConn sorta paid good money for Diaco but extened him after going 6-7, and immediately fired him. That turned out to be a boondoggle when coupled with the KO mess and the result was bringing in Edsall on the cheap which were wasted years.

UCF tantalizes because it's a huge school in central Florida. But it hasn't lived up the expectations, because I'm not sure anybody becomes a UCF fan given the other programs in the state. When you're a kid, you are picking UF or FSU or Miami. So even if you don't get in to those and go to UCF, are you really a fan? USF has the same problem, but without the investment you mentioned.

The talent pool in FL is so deep there are opportunities to identify very good players missed by UF/FSU/Miami. We find them too.

I'm not saying they can't be good. They've already been good. I'm saying nobody would really care even if they are. They could use a rebrand, like Buffalo did ditching "SUNY".

It is always darkest before the dawn. We will be in the XII. It may not happen this summer if there is no partner for us (Colorado), but it will happen, sooner than later. This time next year, we will be coming off of an 8 win football season and a decent bowl game. Hoops for men and women will be great. Baseball, hockey, field hockey, and track will have good years. Things will continue to go up from there - and conference realignment will continue. It is going to happen. Keep the faith!

They must be talking about adding UConn as a stand alone. If Colorado joins the Big 12 so will UConn.
Greg Flugar is implying the Big 12 presidents do not want UCONN football but would consider basketball. Also indicating Big 12 looking at basketball only schools including Zags and SJU. Any truth (he seems to get some good info).

No. They aren't adding basketball only schools. It's a mind bogglingly stupid idea. It always was from when it was first floated.

It is not a stupid idea. I think there is a meaningful possibility that the Big East will merge with or be in partnership with one of the P5 conferences within 5 years. Content is content. Stop thinking of realignment along 2002 parameters.

Thought today was going to be a big day. Convinced now that UConn will not be going BIG12 and that PAC will be keeping their teams. Time to start chatting season stuff on the football board again.

Why did you think today was the day? Did you have inside info on something possibly happening?

Doubt it.

Conference members with inconsistent goals and disagreements on how to divide the TV money is a recipe for disaster. We know that better than anyone. People think the FSU/Clemson whining over revenue sharing is an issue? Having basketball only schools in an all sports conference would make that look like a love-in.

What you might see are more scheduling agreements. The annual challenges are pretty successful.

From your prior posts, you indicated you had an inside source. Have you talked to them again and that is why you are changing your thoughts?
Or are you just changing your mind based on what is posted on the board?

Hasn't Yormark indicated he'd like to sell the basketball and football content separately?

I don't think it's such a crazy idea to pick off a St. John's and UConn to host 10+ Big 12 games in MSG every year. UConn as a full sports member of course.
