From many accounts/suppositions, there are a handful of PAC schools that don't want much of anything to do with the Big12: Cal, Stanford, Utah, ASU, WA, and OR. That's 6 of the 10 right there. This position is completely devoid of logic. There will be a PAC 12 stampede for the exit if these reports are true. UConn will not make the cut.
Seeing more and more about Yormark valuing the northeast market. It makes perfect sense if you want top dollar long term. If Mora has UConn playing good football, UConn’s value will immediately increase exponentially. That would be a real coup for the B12.
Also, remember Yormark’s background. He’s seen the power of New York first hand running Barclay’s Center and the associated businesses. He’s now visiting B12 cities and he’s probably thinking, “Man, we need the Northeast. We’ve got a bunch of small and or redundant markets”.
I have 2 words for you: John MarrinatoMan I remember Aresco pretty much giving us a big ephu when we left. I guess he's used to it now.
In any event Aresco should be remembered as the man who took a seven-figure paycheck and ran the conference into the ground. Some will say no one could've done better and while that may or may not be true it's hard to imagine someone doing significantly worse.
He gave away the best branding asset he had, the Big East name, and blue the dust off of the old CUSA game plan and rammed with it. It should've been no surprise that what he ended up with was a replication of CUSA. Leaving that conference was one of the best things conference realignment moves we have made.
Yes. but they could also want to make a final decision and announce new additions at once. It would seem disorganized and unprofessional to add schools one at a time over the course of a 6 month period. It looks far stronger to announce your new schools together and then claim you got exactly the ones you wanted all along. Then why hasn’t the Big 12 invited UConn if they value us so much? Could they be waiting to see if something better is available?
Wrong. This position is completely devoid of logic. There will be a PAC 12 stampede for the exit if these reports are true. UConn will not make the cut.
If you don't think sending a bouquet to another commissioner is a good idea, well I just don't know what to say to you.I have 2 words for you: John Marrinato
nothing is moving until the Pac12 media deal is resolved. it stinks, but that's the deal. Then why hasn’t the Big 12 invited UConn if they value us so much? Could they be waiting to see if something better is available?
Agreed - almost always in pairs or fours.Yes. but they could also want to make a final decision and announce new additions at once. It would seem disorganized and unprofessional to add schools one at a time over the course of a 6 month period. It looks far stronger to announce your new schools together and then claim you got exactly the ones you wanted all along.
Yeah, this makes total sense...as long as you can show us the PAC team that gives Yormark the NE/NYC presence he's obviously seeking. Which you can't...so actually, no, your post doesn't make sense. This position is completely devoid of logic. There will be a PAC 12 stampede for the exit if these reports are true. UConn will not make the cut.
When has a conference expanded with one school??Then why hasn’t the Big 12 invited UConn if they value us so much? Could they be waiting to see if something better is available?
When has a conference expanded with one school??
Louisville was a replacement. It is rare. The ACC added Louisville on 11/28/2012 after Maryland left.
The Big East expanded to nine football teams on 11/29/2010 when they added TCU.
Louisville was a replacement. It is rare.
UConn is 5th on board behind the Four Corners schools. We need Colorado to bolt, Utah to stay, and the Arizona schools to bolt or stay together.
A lot of us feel the same way you do. UConn fans have just been punched in the grapes quite a few times during conference realignment, and some have a hard time believing this may be different. It's understandable.Any PAC schools leave for the Big 12, UConn is with them. I know you guys don't believe me, but if any of them leave you'll see.
What gives you this confidence? Just your gut and what you believe or do you have a solid reason for your assertion?Any PAC schools leave for the Big 12, UConn is with them. I know you guys don't believe me, but if any of them leave you'll see.
I think Penn State and Nebraska were single school additions to the B1G.When has a conference expanded with one school??
The Big10 in the ‘90’s when they added Penn State and again in 2010 when they added Nebraska. When has a conference expanded with one school??
