Bingo. The Big12 isn't getting any east coast attention without us. That's a huge market left unserved. UCF doesn't intrigue anyone outside of alums and a few people in Orlando and Cincy is a great, midwestern program. WVU has some pull in the east, largely because they get a nice handful of students from NJ, CT, MD and PA, but it isn't an east coast school and it certainly isn't pulling in much interest in NYC, Hartford, Providence and Boston.

UConn offers the opportunity for the B12 to accomplish a few things:

1. Get on the east coast's radar in football and basketball.

2. Provide another fairly nearby partner for UCF and WVU.

3. Allow the B12 to strengthen the basketball they covet by adding a blueblood and accessing the deep pool of talent in the Northeast prep system.

4. UConn gives the B12 a similar reach in the Northeast to the ACC and B10 in one easy move, yet they get to do it with the biggest brand in the Northeast after Penn State. Rutgers, Cuse and BC aren't even close to competing with us on a national stage at this point. UConn is one Jim Mora away from dominating major sports in the Northeast.

UConn June 28th meeting agenda outline is pretty straightforward with the exception of the Item 16 listed as “executive session anticipated”. Is a B12 offer pending?

There was one that said "as needed", but all others said "anticipated." So realignment could be what's "anticipated" but it can also be something completely different.

Susie LAX is having a building named after her? Wow. Yes, I know that is a subtopic. You were talking about the 16th topic. But that subtopic is also interesting.

She should be banned from the state let alone have a freaking building named after her.

Executive session is standard fare for any Board meeting. Sometimes they’re nothing. Sometimes major. Who knows?

I want to make sure I follow. You are criticizing UConn for picking what, for PR purposes, would be a bad day to announce a conference move WHEN THERE IS NO INDICATION THAT UCONN WILL VOTE ON A CONFERENCE MOVE AT THE MEETING?

Seriously?

Wow, not sure how you got to that conclusion. Perhaps you should recalibrate your scope. But Lets talk about this a bit more seriously than I had intended. Is it your conclusion that we will have plenty of public notice before the trustees vote on realignment? Because I am thinking NOT.

Perhaps it did not come through, but my post was intended to be more in the tenor of: this could be a possibility but if you get all excited about it I have a bridge on the market at a very attractive price. Somewhat tongue in cheek would also be an apt description.

But of course, your response could be tongue in cheek too. I dunno.

Around 11 min mark they start discussing UConn as a candidate for Big 12 and college basketball media rights undervalued.

Unsurprisingly, Brando got it wrong that this was our first championship since Calhoun, but he didn’t completely poo poo the potential move to Big 12 but he wouldn’t say much about it because he also covers Big East basketball.

Thought it was an interesting notion of shifting the basketball season later by a month or so the early season is not competing as much with football.

And I might add that I think Thursday would be the perfect time to make an announcement if there is one to be made. I cannot think of a more festive way to head into the weekend.

Not to worry. If there is an announcement coming, there literally will be no bad time to make it.

I was going to start a new thread but didn’t.
Every time I check here, I hope to see about 1000 or so notifications which would be my ‘It’s happening moment!’

The fact that the geography and other sidebar discussions have taken hold are a true letdown

You will know when its happening because there won't be any gaps in the conversations ... the next few days the threads would all say updated "a moment ago"...along with a few other new threads

Or is he congratulating them on burying the meeting announcement because there is Conference realignment discussion?

Not sure who this guy is, but it appears a little more credible than my last post. Non-key to rebuild my credibility, if I ever had any.

Not sure who this guy is, but it appears a little more credible than my last post. Non-key to rebuild my credibility, if I ever had any.

I'm always confused about the Gonzaga rumors. Where did they come from and what's the point of that move? Why would they want a single hoops only school if they can grab UConn, ZONA, CU and SDSU for all sports? Isn't basketball rock solid after that?
