So the Big12 takes 2 from the PAC that helps their TV partners so they can put in a lowball offer, if they decide to, on the conference that's still without a TV contract ? Where have we seen that before ?

I think the underlying message was nothing happens until PAC 12 gets its media deal.
Big12 doesn’t want to be seen as interfering with that process or open itself up to lawsuit.
Behind scenes, things are definitely happening which means everyone is hedging. No PAC 12 school would leave until they have a number for the media deal. Even Colorado.

We need a new thread for the PAC 12 media deal news. Unfortunately, that seems to be dragging on for months.

This is very good for us (assuming Utah is not planning on moving to tg he B-12). We need an odd number of P-12 schools to join. If the state of Arizona is zero or two, Colorado and UConn works.

I could see Colorado, Arizona, UConn & SDSU as a quartet if... both UConn and SDSU have been approved as pro-rata additions from both ESPN and Fox (it's still a shared content deal).

That would fulfill the early statements that indicated a goal of 4 in Eastern time (UConn, WVU, Cincy, UCF) and 4 west of the rockies (Colorado, Arizona, BYU, SDSU)

Things aren’t blowing up just yet…BUT…Colorado is having another meeting tomorrow to continue down the road of departing the PAC. Also a high ranking member of CU administration is coming to B12 offices for further “talks”.

Also heard from a source today that someone in Colorado leadership told B12 that if Apple was going to save the Pac12 it would’ve been announced today…

To be clear only SDSU is Pacific Time. The other 3 are all Mountain time and Arizona is only Mountain Standard Time, they do not observe daylight savings.

Which is why the term "west of the rockies" was used in that original rumor. When someone questioned Colorado, the original source (can't remember which of the pseudo-journalists on twitter it was) stated "close enough".

This is where a smart person steps in to remind the Big 12 teams of their own futility in recent history. Or we help them understand that we've won more basketball championships in the last decade, quarter century, whatever time frame, than their entire conference combined.
