One more item. Memphis is now solidly in the lead (with Cincy just behind) for the Big 12's theoretical #12 spot.

‏@theDudeofWV @PotatoGoatse The B12 likes Memphis. I was a huge doubter.

Christopher Lambert ‏@theDudeofWV · 2h2 hours ago
@HasRo24 BYU is #11 unless they can't reach an agreement.

Christopher Lambert
‏@theDudeofWV @HasRo24 Disclaimer: Big 12 has not decided to expand & doesn't have a consensus on expansion. They have not invited anyone.

Christopher Lambert ‏@theDudeofWV · 2h2 hours ago
@TCunningham50 Nobody is a lock. But nobody has been invited. Let's see if Memphis can keep JF.

If Memphis and Houston join the B12, it means that ESPN is reserving Cincy for the ACC, the whole state of Florida for the ACC and SEC, and BYU for itself, while UConn is going to the B1G. No way B12 passes on UConn, Cincy, UCF, USF, and BYU to take Memphis and Houston unless their TV partners are dictating it.

This guy was proclaiming the WVU defense as the best he has ever seen......

He knows nothing about anything.

But Memphis has had 2 good football seasons!

But...over 1,000 songs have "Memphis" in the lyrics....

Folks from country great Carl Perkins to Mott the Hoople, Sheryl Crowe, Louis Armstrong, John Mayall, Jerry Garcia, Chuck Berry, Steppenwolf, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Frank Sinatra, The Animals, and 100's of others give Memphis mention.

Has to be worth something, huh? Maybe as much as a good half season in football.

One of my personal favorite Memphis themed songs!

How many programs have one of these, a Basketball Champions Center?

Would be hard pressed to find a better basketball facility in the country. They did not leave any stone unturned. Love that they left room for more banners!

Well, if they didn't, the wall would have only been about 30 feet long. Would have made for an odd shaped basketball court. I'm guessing it didn't have much to do with leaving room.

I'm referring more to what Rodney said during his tour than actual building construction.

Not realignment related, but good to see some back us

If the original premise is so ridiculous (non-athletes, mid-major), no amount of debate is going to change his mind. Better to save your time and move on, absolutely nothing to see there.

Exactly. As ridiculous as it is to say that UConn is a mid-major, that's still not as indefensible an opinion as thinking that Brown and Leo weren't/aren't great athletes. Brown in particular is legitimately in the conversation for best pure athlete in American sports history.

Not sure about Messi, though. The guy does not look like much physically; but the freakish way he can contort himself around the ball and how he can get the ball to dance is a work of art and/or magic. Maybe an artist or a Wizard instead of an athlete ;)

Incredible footwork and balance. Kinda like saying Mary Lou Retton wasn't an athlete.

His speed by the way is absolutely fine.

Soccer guys are actually world class top athletes. ESPN Sports science took some of these guys aside and they were world class freaks in terms of body composition, speed, fast twitch, etc.

It's amazing that they have such amazing control while running at full speed. Ronaldhino was incredible. Chrisiano Ronaldo. These guys are 6', unbelievably fast, and super-skilled. Yeah, soccer itself is loved or hated, but the athleticism is without question.

@flugempire Did you see this article? Has quotes from Bowlsby from an on air interview w/ OU media. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2579778-is-the-future-of-the-big-12-in-danger

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire · 2h2 hours ago
@RedhawkLand Yes I did.

Greg Flugaur
‏@flugempire @RedhawkLand Future for OU will either be in an advanced B12...or in SEC/B1G.
OU will not been in Conf that has structure disadvantages

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire · 1h1 hour ago
@RedhawkLand If UT stops all reform...the next story is does OU find room in GOR to get out earlier.

Murr ‏@MurrDCU · 1h1 hour ago
@flugempire @RedhawkLand next time, ask BTM that question

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire · 1h1 hour ago
@MurrDCU @RedhawkLand I have. But he has no insight on B12 GOR.

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire · 1h1 hour ago
@RedhawkLand B12 lied for years about current TV deal as not being pro-rata....until Boren called them out. What else is B12 lying about?

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire · 1h1 hour ago
@RedhawkLand Bowlsby can't go any farther in his words...he went as far as he could go.
Boren laying groundwork for OU future.

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire · 1h1 hour ago
@RedhawkLand B12 not surviving in current form = Oklahoma bolts to one of 3 suitors.
BTM said this in April..Bowlsby says it now.

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire · 1h1 hour ago
@RedhawkLand If UT does not move both on Expansion and dumping LHN...B12 will not survive in current form. Bowlsby is saying this as well.

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire · 1h1 hour ago
@RedhawkLand Boren is trying to save the B12...Bowlsby acknowledges this...gives Boren a wink and nod in public.

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire · 1h1 hour ago
It is the B10 perception that Boren has won the "expansion" argument...but much more will be needed to save B12 in its current form.

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire · 1h1 hour ago
B12 is much further along in expansion talks than most perceive.
Bowlsby talking B12 being "disadvantage" if steps are not followed through

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire · 50m50 minutes ago
B12 will expand for reasons Bowlsby/Boren have explained...but what they won't tell you..(I will) they are waiting on deregulation to pass.

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire · 48m48 minutes ago
Bowlsby's perspective he wants B12 to have the strongest cards possible as he sits down to negotiate with 11/12. Deregulation is an ACE

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire · 47m47 minutes ago
Bowlsby will tell candidates we don't need you for CCG...so what value do you bring us?
Bowlsby will squeeze out back-loaded terms - 11/12

BostonCoug ‏@BostonCoug · 49m49 minutes ago
@flugempire Greg, do you think Bowlsby/Boren have the votes within the Big12 to expand?

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire · 46m46 minutes ago
@BostonCoug Yes..with qualifications. Negotiations will go forward once deregulation passes with candidates.

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire · 42m42 minutes ago
The BR article has me saying on old tweet UCF/BYU...but as I explained on Oct 13 (check my timeline) those 2 are not leading candidates.

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire · 41m41 minutes ago
Bowlsby will be playing hardball with UH-Memphis-CINCY during negotiations. Will try to backload their slice of B12 Pro Rata contract.

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire · 38m38 minutes ago
@_Wasted_Space_ BTM says UCF record is a minor consideration...very minor.
ESPN is not in UCF corner. Big gigantic hurdle

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire · 43m43 minutes ago

Boo-Yah! ‏@Merrick7950 · 42m42 minutes ago
@flugempire Like either of those schools will hold out...no way...EACH of those three would jump immediately if offered.

Greg Flugaur
‏@flugempire @Merrick7950 But who will take less of the pie in the early years of B12 Tier 1 Conference $?
Lots of negotiations up ahead

Never said there was anything key or new. The purpose for my post was to point out that it is better to have a hoops writer for a major publication and studio analyst for the Big Ten Network defending us rather than nodding yes to a simpleton

On the list of stupid "understandings," this is right up here. The XII is waiting to act on Houston and Memphis because the XII's leverage will increase after deregulation? Seriously? You think Houston or Memphis has any leverage now?

Bowlsby: "I'm going to offer you less than equal economic terms, and if you don't take it I'm calling Cincy or BYU or UConn. The terms are ..."

Any G-5 AD: "We accept."

It's interesting now that the AAC fball slate seems to be gaining traction. It's hard to predict that will have any impact, but stranger things have happened as far as competing networks needing content. However, i suspect the current AAC lowball tv deal will likely give way to added $'s for some or all. Trying to backload $'s may not be as effective as it might have otherwise been. Interesting times.

Yeah, he's been beating this drum for a while, and it's ridiculous. The Big 12 has all the leverage in the world, and that leverage is every other team who would instantly accept a terrible deal to get into the Big 12.

No argument that Messi is not an elite athlete. That said, he's only 5' 7".

Seriously. Any school outside of the P5 right now has absolutely zero negotiating leverage. The B12 could offer Memphis or Houston $1 for the first 10 years before getting a full share and they would take it in a heartbeat.

Yes, now. A bidding war could erupt however. If Cinci is in the Big XII, and UConn gets B1G overtures, the ACC has a problem if it expects ND to join. It has zero acceptable candidates remaining. It's a big poker game right now, and nobody is showing their cards. Once the hands start coming out it could change rapidly.
