This was probably discussed but it seemed like an interesting shift in an article from July. Could be far fetched but seems to make much more sense than the nonsense going on now.

I don't know. Convincing Texas they should be getting paid the same as Wake Forrest and Vanderbilt, may be real tough. Convincing SEC schools they should get paid the same as ACC schools may be tougher. I'm skeptical.

100% agree. There is no way you'll ever get 65 schools to agree to the same deals when you have massive state schools and small liberal arts colleges that operate on budgets that are basically USA versus Luxembourg.

But meanwhile is Vandy making more than FSU? And supposedly the argument would be all schools would make more than they do now. I don't know if it's true or not, but it could be. What difference does it make if the tv deal is for 10, 12, 16, or 66 programs? If every program makes more money in a 66 program deal, then it makes sense.

You know what would make more sense than that, individual schools negotiating their tv rights. But because both things make more sense than current arrangement expect no change.

That is the other option! Every program ends up independent and it all sort of takes care of itself. Kind of like a free market system.

Whaaat? Then groups of schools couldn't enter into agreements with each other to exclude other groups of schools.

That's crazy. Makes me wonder about both Chip Brown & your sanity and/or reference points.

YOU already have a situation whereby the SEC and the B1G are going to be over $50m per school while the ACC is going to be at $22/23m and the B12 is barely $20m. Does it make sense to you (let's say you are Indiana or Mississippi) to go for the SAME payout that all 65 (+ BYU) have? That ain't going to happen. There now are major anomalies when a valuable Texas or Oklahoma or a FSU or Georgia Tech is not getting near what the mid to low level SEC or B12 is getting.

GoR is worthless piece of paper that can be extinguished with dollars.

It is crazy and you pretty much made the point. I am sure it makes plenty of sense to FSU and Clemson. Again, if the average take for all goes up, it actually does make sense. That is a big IF. A system where Indiana and Vandy make more than FSU or Oklahoma, somethings gotta give.

Except it wont. Big Ten and SEC would be taking less for ACC and others to make more. Therefore, I think why I think there is zero chance for that to happen. I can't see the overall $$$$ rising to where all 65 schools would make more but what the hell do I know.

That is my only argument, no one knows what the dollars will be down the road. Ohio State and Alabama are already making less so that Indiana and Mississippi State can make more. FSU and Texas make less so Wake and OK State make more. If eventually all the conferences approach some sort of equilibrium, there is no difference between a 10 member conference and a 66 member conference. There are high value and low value in each scenario. Otherwise you will have a shake-up where only 20 of the best are included (Ohio State, Alabama, Texas, USC, FSU, etc) and the rest are shaken out. No program has been given the boot yet so it's the same 65 programs no matter how it is sliced.

Accuse me all you want, but shouldn't we focus more on getting into a P5 conference instead of what others like Louisville or Rutgers are doing?
