Relationships with Texas are weird, eh? Nobody wants to be in a conference with them as long as they have that LHN. Yet, nobody wants to lose them as a conference mate because of TX recruiting exposure.

The thing that keeps going around in my head is that as a geographic outlier they could still rule their Texas kingdom and yet fit in with a number of similar flagships.

It's conceivable that content sharing with LHN would be beneficial to both sides. Probably a little too much rationalization there.

Correct and thank God, since it is a two way street for sure.....Finally, finally, the Big Ten has quit hounding Notre Dame for membership which it does not want. Hooray!

(I don't think that Texas will go to the Big Ten, either).

I agree that it is unlikely that ND is going to the B1G at this time. There are two ways that I can see ND going to the B1G in the future.

First, the XII folds and U Texas does go into the B1G and the opportunity to play in a conference stretching from New York to Chicago and then down the Dallas and Houston is attractive enough, i.e. the amount of $$ offered, to lure ND to the B1G as school #20. I believe that this scenario is very unlikely.

Second, somehow the XII holds it together and expands and the ACC falls apart instead. Faced being attached to what ends up looking like the old Big E part II, ND sucks it up and joins the B1G, which itself had taken 4 ACC schools, because ND does not fit the SEC not XII's profile and the PAC is just too far away. I feel that thsi is more likely than #1; but, I see the XII falling apart, not the ACC.

ND told the ACC that if they were join a conference it would be the ACC. Not sure if that's in writing, but it will be a long while before B1G and ND talk with each other.

Given the dud is carrying a shotgun in his twitter image(and a bad head piece) he could be charged in certain states for his threatening comments to Weiss. LOL

Fox sports mulling idea of Kansas OU leaving big 12 for Big to give that conference 16 teams. Just another rumor? @BlueStarMedia1

Just learned Big 12 is getting closer to discussions with BYU and Boise State about joining the league, according to source close to deal

You guys don't trust the Panama City guy with 274 followers for breaking Big 12 expansion news? Smart peeps, my tweeps.

LOL....
I realize Boise St has had some good years on football, but they bring NOTHING else. No other sports. No academics. And they're more of a geographic outlier than we are. That is just crazy talk!

The Dude of WV must have sent the West Virginia Special Operations Group to talk some sense into that S.O.B.

It is until 2027...the Irish signed that if they joined a conference, it would be the ACC,,,and they are obliged for sports other then football under the GOR.

Jim Delany and the Big Ten made a big push for ND and Texas in 2010, only to be rebuffed. They ended up with Nebraska only at the time.

There was lots of discussion in 2010 that Delany had "checkmated" and finally caught his "great white whale" in Notre Dame because of the TV dollars from the Big Ten Network.

Turned out Delany was actually not that good at chess as ND went the ACC route instead.

The only way that the Big Ten "would not want ND and Texas drama" is if both schools are unattainable.

(In related news, I don't want the drama likely associated with Kate Beckinsale and Rhona Mitra, either).

Chicago Tribune on UConn: "Connecticut is not an AAU member and drew 2,500 for its last spring football game. Maryland's pull in Washington, D.C., and Baltimore is intriguing, but that's where the appeal ends."

Granted this was 2010 and a lot has changed since then, but this was also when our football program was essentially in its prime. Mentioned it before but really need to rally up fan support this year, and this years spring game was a great start to that (pretty sure we had record attendance, no?)

That attendance number is bs.

Big 12 officials vocal over being left out of '14 CFB playoff. Adding 2 teams allows them to have conf champ game, increasing playoff odds

Still unsure why Boise & BYU fans are upset over Big 12. Stand by our source, who said expansion conversation with those two likely ahead.

Matt‏@maytetheywa 2h2 hours ago
@heyscottymac why would they invite Boise St? That alone shows that you have no credibility.

Scott McKinney‏@heyscottymac 2h2 hours ago
@maytetheywa why wouldn't they? Perfect fit capturing nw market. Makes more sense than not

If any P5 would invite Boise St, it would be the BXII. They are not the Big Ten, academically.

A lot has changed since 2010. Why would the big ten want two schools that disrupted three conferences and potentially killed two. They'd take a repentant ND and TX, but neither would change their perspective when it comes to conference unity. Not that's bad for them but it would be as bad for Minnesota as it was for Baylor or NC State.

"Sadly, our advice comes too late for Scott McKinney, former host of SOUTHERN SPORTS TONIGHT, a sports radio show in Memphis. You may recall that he was busted for selling more than 100% of the shares to his show, then using the extra cash on himself, which apparently you can’t do. (Legally, anyway.) Well, it’s time for the sentencing, and the judge was extraordinarily unimpressed with McKinney’s shenanigans, giving him the maximum allowable sentence for the charges he copped to in the plea deal. Grease your ass, McKinney, because according to THE CLARION-LEDGER, it’s about to get rough:

Booneville native Scott McKinney was sentenced to five years in a Florida state prison Tuesday for defrauding investors in his Southern Sports Tonight radio program.

McKinney also will serve 50 years on probation and pay restitution of $188,508."

predictable. i love how everyone simply ignores the loud overtures from Delaney for his desire to expand east. simply put, delaney wants to capture between boston and dc and put a stranglehold on any conference outside the sec. i agree that if ou is available(count me as someone who believes the b1g is third on ou's list) the b1g should grab them and if kansas is the bridge, so be it. for this to happen, i see the b1g expanding to 18 not 16. uconn has been and remains part of their plan, there was just no urgency for an immediate add. that may change. this is a game of musical chairs and delaney does not want to be caught standing when the music stops. the additions of maryland and rutgers will come into question if they dont deliver the ultimate goal. while some love to devalue uconn, the hidden truth is that it could very well be the death sentence long term to the acc. with b1g money, uconn can very well grow into a northeastern power that schools like bc and syracuse rest in the shadow of. go to 18 now and wait for the acc to implode down the road...........add uva/gt and there you have it.

Kansas doesn't hurt the Big Ten, and it is certainly a great basketball program and a good state flagship university, but I don't see how it helps the Big Ten either. In terms of markets, UConn helps the Big Ten. As, obviously, do UNC and either UVA or the Hokies. And as OU does from a football perspective.

Briles said. “I think that’s the issue that we’re looking at, just making sure everyone keeps the same dollar signs.”

It's happening

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire · 10h10 hours ago
Art Briles was against B12 Expansion just a few minutes he ago...now he is for it because of Boren comments on B12 TV contract is Pro-RATA

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire · 10h10 hours ago
David Boren is going to save the B12 until 2025.
Expansion Committee of Boren-Gee-Starr are all on-board excepting Schools Resumes

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire · 10h10 hours ago
When Art Briles is talking publicly about "just checking to make sure we don't lose dollars"...this B12 expansion is far down the road

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire · 10h10 hours ago
@geoffmitchell Accirding to what BTM has said in June...B12 will expand with either combo BYU/UCF..or UH/UCF....this is B10 perceptions

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire · 10h10 hours ago
@geoffmitchell Look at Art Briles statements...you think he says that without having convo with Starr?

The Horses are out of the barn.

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire · 10h10 hours ago
@geoffmitchell Now B12 just needs to pick the horses.
