Minnesota Golden Gophers, if I'm not mistaken. I'll take his word about the inner working of Big Ten Country (Seeing as...you know...Minnesota is actually within the Big Ten footprint) over an Appalachian Mountaineer any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

...The fact that he would accept UConn into the Big Ten with open arms doesn't hurt his cause with me either.

TerryD, I understand completely and think Notre Dame should do what's right for Notre Dame and the fans--I think we've all moved on from the Big Ten and Notre Dame.

From a Big Ten alum perspective, it's like parking your car next to an empty parking space with a sign that says: "Reserved for Notre Dame" for 20 years or so and finally accepting that space isn't ever going to be used by Notre Dame. I will miss the Big Ten/Notre Dame games.

In any event, UConn deserves a spot in P5.

What is getting lost in the translation of all of these metrics is that it's first and foremost about the tv networks getting paid. There is a leep by guys like him that basically viewership is directly related to dollars which isn't/doesn't always have to be the case. These deals can get influenced by sponsors directly. If a sponsor jumps in for a channel regardless of size, then it's much more important than any metrics. If tv stations get paid, schools are much more likely to get in if they bring those dollars. Viewers can be secondary.

Our reality is that we need to be in by that 2017 window, or an agreement of partial membership of some sort or else were done! There is no way in hell we survive til 2025! None! I feel good about our chances aside from what these clowns are saying. It just doesn't make sound business sense for the B1G to allow a potential property that you view as valuable to die on the vine and devalue, or any sense at all for that matter.
 
If we are good enough in 2019 then we are good enough now. The only reason for a delay is either strategic for financial reasons or a quasi probationary period to demonstrate that we can live up to the standard of the Big Ten in a number of areas. If this is not the case, then we aren't going anywhere without some NCAA level game changing event not related to UConn, such as dropping the amateur status charade or some antitrust-like deregulation. The ACC would offer out of panic in reaction to other events.

Come on CA. PSU already covers Pennsylvania, no need for Temple. Big10 going to 20 with UConn, Buffalo, Boston University/Navy Football, Houston, Rice, and Tulane.

Actually any of those would be "non-surprise surprises". But my first pick for a non-surprise surprise: Kentucky.

I doubt anyone would leave the SEC now that their television is shaping up and they're in on the ground floor, but Kentucky has a long history of frustrated academic aspirations that the B1G might be able to capitalize upon. And I'm sure BTN and Fox wouldn't object to a UConn/Kentucky addition.
