They're not going to be on equal footing. They can't be now but who says that they can't appreciate as part of revitalized Big 12? UConn gets you into the NY market. Cincy gets you into the Midwest. USF and UCF gets you Florida recruiting and some good markets. BYU gets national exposure and Boise is good football. Take the six, negotiate a deal where the 10 get around their current money and the 6 get less as they join and give yourself a 5 year lookin to renegotiate. Convince Texas to use LHN as a spine for a new Big 12 network and maybe, just maybe you can make something. Look the Big 12 is going to die unless they do something that has a little flair. Staying stodgy and close minded is a death sentence.

But how are you going to accomplish all of this?

1. By allowing the directional Florida schools into the Big12, ESPN is allowing Fox entrance into that ESPN only area. Not sure they want to do that.

2.UConn (as you know), Cincinnati, USF and UCF all are owned by ESPN and a ridiculously low price. They (as you know) get those properties at such a bargain, does ESPN really want to let that go?

3. How are going to convince Texas to let go of the LHN. It's the only reason why the Big12 was kept in the first place and it's the only reason we have a Big12 now. Without the LHN, Texas would be gone.

4. How much money do you think the new six will bring in? The Big12'is already getting payment for 12 schools when it only has 10. The new schools would have split a 4 school payment 6 ways. Yes, it would still be more than what you are making now, but you would be always in the rear view mirror.

5. The big12 is no position to negotiate. They are lucky they have been making what they are making since the Big 4 left. I highly doubt that either network would want to spend more and more for something they already have.

I want you all somewhere, hopefully the Big10. The big issue is that there really isn't leverage from the Big12 unless you are Texas, and they don't want expansion. Even Texas has their hands tied behind their back with ESPN. I see the Big12 at status quo for the duration of their conference.

Get Jerry Jones involved. (Lord, I don't what made me print this) The modern day P.T.Barnum knows a good show when he sees it. Adding the 6 aforementioned schools will stabilize the XII, bring in new markets, & improve the XII's various sponsored athletic programs.
Football: Gets the XII into Florida & Ohio for recruiting purposes
Basketball: Add UConn, Cinci, BYU, to Kansas, Texas, & Okie St. & you have the makings of a very competitive conference a la the old Big East.
Baseball: UCF, USF, UConn enhance the XII in competition. (Imagine the Huskies playing Texas at Dunkin-Yard Goats Stadium in Mid May-might sell out the place)
Track & Field- Olympic style competition.

Just seems like a match, that's why it probably won't happen.

Yet the conferences have to ok the deal. They just can't say "look we got these 6 teams, now pay us." Fox and ESPN have to give the OK, what if they don't? Does the anti-dilution clause work up to 12? They are already being paid as a 12 league conference.

I think almost in every instance, a major conference gained revenue or was trying to gain revenue. Nebraska made money for Fox and it's BTN, as did Maryland/Rutgers. All three will pay off come 2017. Texas A&M and Mizzou made boatloads for the SEC. Colorado and Utah made some, and will payoff even better down the road. WVU and TCU kept the Big12 together, thus keeping Texas in the grasps of ESPN. ESPN has the AAC on the cheap. Why would they pay that much more not really making more money. Texas can't go anywhere without the consent of their LHN overlords, so why would they ok any changes?

People think that this is all easy to figure out and their ideas of convincing someone to do something They want them to do don't work. How are you going to convince both ESPN and Texas to give up the LHN? You aren't. How are you going to renegotiate a contract that you are already over paid for with a look-in that would give you more? The Big12 will exist as long as Texas and, to a lesser extent, Oklahoma, want it to. I just don't see Texas going this route.

I know that you have your own "I want to crush UConn athletics" agenda, but you're being deliberately obtuse now. You were answered in another thread how the AD can support itself while the school and AD continue to improve its P5 profile. Is it optimal? Certainly not. Is it sustainable in the long-term? No. But it's not nearly as dire, in the short-term, as you are making it out to seem. It certainly is enough to buy UConn time to better its P5 profile in the next few years without taking drastic, moronic steps like cutting football and permanently moving our elite hoops programs into a mid-major conference as you suggest. Please stop posting this kind of nonsense.
