Really?
Given that the league could be decimated in the next 2-3 years? Would need to see some guarantees to protect UConn should a bulk of the league leave.

You mean less BB money and still not having FB in until 2031. Yeah, no.

Now if the ACC were bringing FB into the fold right away, then maybe. We would certainly jump to the ACC if offered rather than continuing to get dicked around by the Big 12.

But if the two offers on the table were the same from both, you go with the Big 12. They are argueably more stable and better positioned to stay in the P3 slot. There are way more teams in the ACC that would get poached by the B1G and SEC if/when they implode and would be a shell of themselves.

Of course, we don't have an offer from either, so it's moot.

Yet schools have been kicked out of the AAU by their P4 conference mates in the last 20 years.

When you get in front of that board and say, "These are my friends, I want them in" you will be laughed at, because so many schools are on the verge of getting the heave-ho in an era when we have cutbacks everywhere; they'll insist on the sanctity of the metrics, because that's all they have to cull their membership.

The vast majority of schools, including the Canadian schools, don't even have big time sports.

It isn't going to happen. It's increasingly clear that FSU and Clemson have no place to go. Nor do UNC and UVA. Long term, for UConn, the ACC is a better choice if we have that option. Right now we do not. So the Big XII is the lifeboat that may or may not arrive. Have to get on if we can.

When the ACC is "decimated" it's because the top schools took their ball and formed a super league. That means Vandy will be out, most of the Big XII will be out, a few of the ACC schools will be in. Rutgers probably will be out. Then the leftovers of all those conferences need to realign in some fashion. An ACC without FSU, Clemson or Miami but with Vandy and Cinci is probably not a bad spot.

people dont wanna hear that but it's probably true. even getting into the big12 doesnt guarantee anything if there's eventually a "breakaway league" for football. we're all assuming the entire "p3" would breakaway but wouldnt it make more sense for individual schools to form a new league rather than for entire conferences to go together? if these admins are that greedy why would any dead weight be included e.g northwestern, rutgers, vandy, UConn?

That’s my view of where it’s headed once they are paying players. There is zero chance UConn is in that group. Schools will need to make some tough decisions. I don’t think even Kentucky, BC, Indiana or Virginia will have much appetite for it. Schools like Colorado or OK State are borderline. Then you put Olympic sports back together in a way that makes sense or combine it with the new sub tier football.

Those top football schools don’t want to share the revenue with the NCAA or conference mates (like FSU and Clemson). They barely do now, basketball tournaments fund the whole operation. The status quo is absurd and isn’t sustainable.

Wise up. Membership is by invitation only with no defined criteria. Suppose Big Ten membership requires AAU membership and a certain school is viewed by the Big 10 as someone they would like in their conference. Say, Michigan representative lobbies other members to invite that particular school ( say, ND). There is no doubt that they would be swayed for a quid pro quo. Merit is important. There are many schools that could easily be in the AAU, but as they say it is not what you know, but whom you know that matters.

If they thought adding UConn would get THEM more money (or not having UConn would risk credibility) they'd do it in a heartbeat. Maybe if we had a senator or two pushing dollars our way...
 
At 1:33:00 Flugaur talks again about Fox wanting to play football on non-traditional days. He says this is Fox, not ESPN. He says that Yormark is in deep discussions with Fox about this. He says the other part of this discussion with Fox is UConn.

If that story were true, I think it would just be more proof that the schools that don't like us have some really weird view of us that doesn't match reality. Like they were told something by some rando 30 years ago that they still believe

That's what I mean though. If someone did tell him that, it furthers my belief that the people responsible for these decisions don't have accurate information to support those decisions. Or they do have accurate information and cast it aside for built in biases.
