Nils Machowski visiting tomorrow…

Joey C type. Throw up a couple daggers a game. Perfect fit. Will make Hurleys mom happy.
Without watching him outside of clips in which he never misses, I am going to blatantly stereotype and assume that as a German he has a more rounded game. So poor man's Cam more than Joey C. type.

How's his handle? Any PG skills? Only averaged 2.5 assists a game. The Courant article yesterday said the staff was still in the market for a combo guard. Does he fit the bill?

So he’s a rising senior then? We have one year of him?

I know he’s technically still a junior for a month but no one cares if he finishes his classes 🤪.

Yes, he'd be the combo guard. Decent passing skills, though I doubt we're ever seeing him at PG. He'll be here to shoot
Can’t help but think we’re still another ball handler short if Nils commits. When Silas comes out of the game, who is facilitating this offense? They’re putting an incredible amount of stock into thinking county can handle those duties & im weary of that.

.-.
We needed more scoring/shooting and this kid scores and shoots. Defensive numbers don't look good but we're all set on defense. He's smallish but his rebounding numbers are good which shows he has a nose for the ball/likes to mix it up. He said he's a point guard but he looks like a dude who is all about scoring. He's a smiley fella....

Our roster is filled with very good defensive players, especially on the wings. We need scoring from this spot
We need people who can penetrate. We saw how trying to score is so tough on our offense when no one can penetrate. Hey we don't have to feel excited about all our recruits. I prefer us to get more athletic at the guard position personally. That is my opnion. We have 3 potential good shooters in Mullins, Demary and Kahmenia. I guess I'm find with it but it really doesn't move the needed much for me in excitment for next year. I'm getting Mahaney vibes with this player.

About time we got a solid Pol in here. Also helps us meet our annual honkey quota which has really lifted under the Hurley administration.
Machowski was born and raised in Berlin, as was his coach father who played 17 seasons in 5 countries and with Kansas City, KS CC. Still coaches with Stargard, near Szczecin.

Maybe Nils Machowski pronounces his surname like a Pole, Ma-HOEV-ski, and not Germanized. However, he’s a German-born, Deustchland citizen.

Son of a coach? Hurley’s MO.

Wow, where my wifes family hails from, family name is Stettin Anglicized version of Szczecin

Won't pretend to have watched him play, but a quick look at highlight clips and glance at his sports reference page, this looks like a pretty good bench CG to compete with County for minutes. Spent two years at UCF
Yep checked out the same. Couple things, I noticed he started all 6 UCF postseason games as a soph and averaged about 9pts/4 reb vs. P-5 schools. And for some reason he has good rebound numbers (5.7) for a Joey C. size guard (6-3/183lb)

I don’t care if he ever even dribbles. Shoot the rock, make some passes and back door cuts. Throw in some average defense and call it a win.
So you want us to become Princeton basketball? yikes.

Mahaney is a very good player, things could've gone a lot differently for him here on another team in a different role. Hurley brought him in to be our starting point guard, he's not a point guard. That was one of the only errors Hurley has made here, crushed the kid's confidence.

He is not a Top 5 league player. He is a good at a mid-major. He wasn't quick or strong enough to play this level especially sine his shooting was not that good etiher. Probably one of our worst defenders at the guard position ever.

No. I want to fill the one glaring weakness we have had. Shooting. That’s all we need out of Nils. You seem to want a Duke like bench. A dozen burger boys that don’t get to play. Be realistic. Who do you really think you are getting for the ninth or tenth spot in the rotation?

Inconveniently, Stettin was the German name of Szczecin. After the allies defeated the Nazis, the Potsdam Agreement reverted Stettin back to its Polski name, Szczecin. Likable city, big contributor to Solidarność, and the end of Soviet control in Poland.

We sure did. It was so hard we were one of the best teams in the country the entire season and finished the year in a competitive championship game.

Note to fanbase -- could we stop with focusing on how many things we couldn't do last year? There were at most 3 teams that had a shorter list of what they couldn't do, and we beat one of them and gave the other two competitive games (one of which we were down two starters).

I'm not picking on you 3rd -- but damn, you'd really think last year was a miserable off year from reading all the negatives of what we couldn't do.

THIS!

Fellas, we were 1 bad call away from taking the championship game, and there were a hell of a lot more than just 1 bad call...

Just because we finished well didn't mean that offense wasn't have a hard time to generate good looks. I guess I'm just spoiled byt he 23-24 team. You saw how good teams can bottle us up with Atlhletes like St. John's and Michigan did.

C’mon Dwayne Karoma could not guard a chair: He was in as break glass for AK and can score.

This guy already defends better and can score shoot and handle the ball? Let’s go we need a trusty guard who can score

He was terrible this year against Auburn and Furman but we will see. Hope he can physically complete in the Big East.

Likeable family too. How does the Germanized version of Szczecin make it inconvenient?

Nobody bottled us up. We missed a lot of shots. We were oh so close to being as Coach says “bulletproof”. Shoring up the shooting is what’s needed at this point. We have some studs on this team. I expect everyone to shoot better next year but we need some insurance.
