Nils Machowski visiting tomorrow…

Stuff has def shifted - euros are a big part of that. This would be euro 2 on the team. I’d imagine we see a few more before it’s all done. Calhoun and Ollie def like had a diff recruiting angle but would always pepper in the one strategic white. Voskuhl, Olander, Giffey. 2004 not so much.
2004 team remidning me of Michigan's level of talent especially up fron with Okafor, Boone, Charlie V. and Armstrong on that team.

We sure did. It was so hard we were one of the best teams in the country the entire season and finished the year in a competitive championship game.

Note to fanbase -- could we stop with focusing on how many things we couldn't do last year. There were are most 3 teams that had a shorter list of what they couldn't do, and we beat one of them and gave the other two competitive games (one of which was down two starters).

I'm not picking on you 3rd -- but damn, you'd really think last year was a miserable off year from reading all the negatives of what we couldn't do.
THIS!

Fellas, we were 1 bad call away from taking the championship game, and there were a hell of a lot more than just 1 bad call...

Just because we finished well didn't mean that offense wasn't have a hard time to generate good looks. I guess I'm just spoiled byt he 23-24 team. You saw how good teams can bottle us up with Atlhletes like St. John's and Michigan did.

C’mon Dwayne Karoma could not guard a chair: He was in as break glass for AK and can score.

This guy already defends better and can score shoot and handle the ball? Let’s go we need a trusty guard who can score

He was terrible this year against Auburn and Furman but we will see. Hope he can physically complete in the Big East.

.-.
Inconveniently, Stettin was the German name of Szczecin. After the allies defeated the Nazis, the Potsdam Agreement reverted Stettin back to its Polski name, Szczecin. Likable city.
Likeable family too. How does the Germanized version of Szczecin make it inconvenient?

No. I want to fill the one glaring weakness we have had. Shooting. That’s all we need out of Nils. You seem to want a Duke like bench. A dozen burger boys that don’t get to play. Be realistic. Who do you really think you are getting for the ninth or tenth spot in the rotation?
No I just like a more athtletic team mixed with shooters. I'm not expecting a bunch of burger boys on our team. We actually will have 2 this year and they are both white and I'm fine with them. Just like to fill the roster with more athletes as that was definitely a deficiency the past 2 years.

Nobody bottled us up. We missed a lot of shots. We were oh so close to being as Coach says “bulletproof”. Shoring up the shooting is what’s needed at this point. We have some studs on this team. I expect everyone to shoot better next year but we need some insurance.

January 17th game. Compare vs. Wilkins that everyone was salivating over.

I don’t wish any ill toward the kid but it will be interesting to see if Wilkins becomes the new Timberlake.
Why? I don't see any similarities. Timberlake was a pretty athletic kid who was able to show out athletically in that lousy league Towson is in. Take that to the Big12 and he was a peon. Wilkins is savvy, has a more modern skillset. I don't expect him to turn into Larry Bird, but think he'll do well.

You can't say "everyone", and the Wilkins kid was a freshman, one who had the better game as the year went on, on top of getting his team to the NCAA Tournament...

I hope so for his sake and I don’t disagree. I just meant what if he doesn’t turn out to be all that and we are glad we wiffed on him. Ala Timberlake

We needed more scoring/shooting and this kid scores and shoots. Defensive numbers don't look good but we're all set on defense. He's smallish but his rebounding numbers are good which shows he has a nose for the ball/likes to mix it up. He said he's a point guard but he looks like a dude who is all about scoring. He's a smiley fella....

He even kinda sounds like Niels Giffey. My favorite player ever. I hope he can have that level of impact

Ah - not sure if we were every really that in on him. He was not a priority - did he even visit? Kid was never coming her to come off the bench.

No it probably never got that close but everyone here was drooling over him.

About time we got a solid Pol in here. Also helps us meet our annual honkey quota which has really lifted under the Hurley administration.

Last year we were at 6. This gets us to 4 with plenty of runway.
He's German, from Berlin just like Niels Giffey. Same first name too, different spelling.

Do Jayden and Junior County get us to 5?

.-.
Yep checked out the same. Couple things, I noticed he started all 6 UCF postseason games as a soph and averaged about 9pts/4 reb vs. P-5 schools. And for some reason he has good rebound numbers (5.7) for a Joey C. size guard (6-3/183lb)
Good catch with that.

In addition to what you said, Machowski averaged 9.2p, 4.2r and hit 43% of his threes across his final six games at UCF, all of which were Big 12 games, so while there's a nice combination of volume/efficiency at Wofford, I also like how he's been battle tested in the Big 12 for his first two years in the NCAA.

Wofford's defense sucked this year (311 DRtg) but while at UCF, Machowski finished with the team's 4th best defensive efficiency rating, per EvanMiya.

Lot's of Pols migrate over to Deutscheland - I know a Polish last name when I see one.

I think you got to give the mixed bags to the dominant genome, lol. So no.

These are definitely not your Calhoun Huskies - those teams were dawg tough. Although the entire landscape has changed drastically since then, not sure any teams are anymore. MSU has a little with it's Flintstones vibes. Memphis seems to have a little, but always undisciplined and stink.

I wouldn't say Wilkins had a much better game that Nils in this game, he scored more but percentages were similar. Wilkins has more assists, but he also had 6 TOs.

His dad is German-Polish, also a former basketball player. Name is Sebastian Machowski. Problem solved.

Who cares about Wilkins? The point is we want winners here and I'm not yet sure how this kid contributes to that. Hopefully I'm wrong and Hopefully he commits

Yes but if you ask the kid he's going to tell you he's German not Polish. Look at Deni Avdija, his last name is Serbian and he looks Serbian but he's from Israel and he'll tell you he's Israeli.

I still want to know if Jayden and Junior County get us to 5. Lolz
