Since it seems like it's all about milking whatever dollars they can before the chapter 11 filing, I think we just sell the naming rights. Of course, I fully expect it will be the Massengill Freshness Conference but I don't care anymore. At this point I really have no more pride regarding the conference. Anyway you never know it could be something better like the Virgin Atlantic Conference, then maybe BYU joins.

How about in a marketing ploy they name it America's Best Football Conference so when we win it the talking heads on ESPN will have to proclaim that "UConn is champion of America's Best Football Conference. "

Like POS StorrsSoars. Fitting double entendre .
Have not seen the TV / news today, what comments has the pretty lady or Rock Star made?

Did you see Mike Brey's comments about the C7 taking the Big East name?

Really Mike? How do you define "carrying the flag"?

Never winning any significant postseason basketball games?

.-.
It can still get worse. I think it is 50/50 SMU or Houston ever play a game in the Big East. The only reason they will play in the NNBE is if the MWC won't have them.

I laughed, then thought... oh they just might sell the naming rights to the conference for a few extra dollars... the Nationwide Conference (on the bright side), Google Conference, GoDaddy.com Conference, YouPorn.com Conference... I'm just going to barf on myself now, excuse me.

GoDaddy isn't bad.

Compare us to the top of the MAC, not the bottom. Show some pride.

First , he didn't say MAC, he said Independent. And I have doubts the MAC would take UConn. Any way you cut it, it means dismantling football.

However would we survive the loss of Houston or SMU? Would losing those schools damage the lucrative television contract. If they leave put in Tulsa and UMass or Arkansas State and Middle Tennessee. At least Middle Tennessee has a decent basketball team today.

Was literally going to suggest this. Need to get some money somewhere....

Pepsi Presents....UConn v. Cincy!

I would go hip-hop with it. Name it also after World-Wide-Wes.

The World - Wide - Wes conference.

Champions League: UConn, Memphis, Cincy, Temple, Houston
Avis League: SMU, East Carolina, UCF, USF, Tulane

"The Big Country".....we already have a song.

"In the big country dreams stay with you....

So take that look out of here, it doesn't fit you
Because it's happened doesn't mean you've been discarded
Pull up your head off the floor, come up screaming
Cry out for everything you ever might have wanted
I thought that pain and truth were things that really mattered
But you can't stay here with every single hope you had shattered
In a big country dreams stay with you
Like a lover's voice far as the mountainside
Stay alive"

So true, so true...

Why is it that you guys just have to keep piling on the already unfortunate circumstances? Can't you guys for once try and use some of that wisdom you have acquired t0 formulate a grand solution even if it's just suggestions from the peanut gallery rather than constantly focusing on the negative aspects? Talk about a buzz kill... come on guys fix the problem, don't sit there like whiny little girls complaining because the pourage isn't hot enough.

The football league isn't nearly as bad as it's being sold out to be. Why they went for 7 years is just bad. In the turbulent times we live in you never make a deal for that long. But...... it still gives UConn football an opportunity to shine on a national stage so you take what you can get and polish it up the best you can. Time for boneyarders to be creative and make this sow's ear into a silk purse. There's no time left to whine.

We provided several great choices over the last year. SunBeast has grown on me.

With Tulane, maybe "Who Dat?" since nobody will know what it is or who is in it.
Don't need anything that can rhyme with "LEAST".

.-.
I would call it "The Alliance" because that is essentially what it is.

Whatever they name it, they need to pay close attention to what it will ultimately be called by the masses and the media. The Atlantic Coast Conference is never referred to as that. It's the ACC. The Southeastern Conference is the SEC. So let's be careful. Those of you who are familiar with Insurance giant CIGNA might be interested to know that when the merger first occurred between Connecticut General and Insurance Company of North America (INA) the new name selected and trumpeted was North American General. It was only after the geniuses realized it abreviated to NAG and after faxes flew with employee suggestions for logos (I loved the swayback mule) that they went back to the drawing board, shuffled the letters CG and INA and created CIGNA .

I'm sort of tired of "Big" this and "Big" that. Find a simple name that fits the makeup of the conference and I'll be happy. If they get really ambitious and blow it then it will just make things that much worse.

In that case I'm leaning towards This Was A Travesty or
