I wonder if that line is too low. However, has providence blown anyone out besides Creighton at the Dunk and DePaul in early January?Absolutely nobody respects Providence. Nobody.

If Hurley had us go 14-4 in the WAC many would be calling for his head on a pike. Before today, I couldn't name a scholl in it.
NMSU only played 2 games in the conference tourney and won both. Beat Canyon State and Abilene Christian.
I am not worried about Game 1 or Game 2.
Sweet 16, baby!!!

The boys need to guard everyone. How many games have you seen where a player is shooting 20% from three and suddenly goes off for 30 points. There has always been an opposing player getting his first (fill in the blank) against Uconn. Especially from the bench. They've got 2 decent 3pt shooters, 1 guy who shoots volume but not well, 1 guy who shoots pretty poorly we probably don't need to guard, and their center doesn't shoot at all. We can play 2 bigs against them easily.
What’s their average PPG?Based on what I'm seeing, NM State:
- plays at a slow tempo
- turns it over a lot
- defends both 3's and 2's well
- blocks a lot of shots but don't turn you over
- goods offensive rebounders and get to the line
- shoots a decent amount of 3's but at a mediocre clip
- shoots a good percentage inside the arc
So it looks like inside play is a strength, but they haven't dealt with an inside game the likes of ours.
Otherwise, it's a matter of slowing down their volume shooter (Teddy Allen, 19 ppg on 44/33/87 shooting %s and a sub-1 A/T ratio).
73.3What’s their average PPG?
The numbers that stand out:Kenpom has us winning 70-64

Not bad. I don’t see it being even close to that but you never know in March73.3
If we can force challenged shots and we can rebound I think we should be ok. When we’re in transition we’re pretty good. We just play. Especially when Jackson turns into Mendoza from Mighty Ducks and gets down the court with the ball. The numbers that stand out:
- Their great 2-point offense (and ability to avoid getting blocked) vs. our elite 2-point defense (and our elite shot-blocking)
- Their tendency to shoot 3's vs. our tendency to funnel guys into the paint
- Their rebounding is great on both ends; ours is elite on the offensive side and so-so on D
- Their solid shot-blocking and 2-point and 3-point defense
Our styles actually look fairly similar, we're just a better version. Honestly, this is kind of the matchup we want.
Davidson, yes. Also Utah State and Washington State. Can someone tell me who was the best team NMSt played this year? Davidson?
So hard to tell with a team that has only played a handful of games against the top 100 in college basketball.
Someone should tell them we are UConn or UCONNo, not UCON.
I think he oddly also had a stop at Wichita in there too. He can play for sureThey have Teddy Allen who transferred from WVU and Nebraska who will be tough. But I like our chances with Martin and Jackson to defend him
He played for New Mexico, not NMSUIsn't NMS where vance Jackson transferred at some point?...still is at?
That was New Mexico. We scored the first 15 points of the game and won easily.Didn’t we absolutely lay the wood to them in the early rounds in 1999??
Reading their board reminded me that Pascal Siakam played for NMSU. Toronto is really close to Buffalo and the Raptors are off that day, so he may well be at the game. As long as he doesn't suit up, we should be OK though.Their board is brutal. They are talking about the weather and how the team should fly out early to get acclimated. I didn't have the heart to tell them the game is being played indoors.
