New AAC ESPN Contract Value Poll

What will be the per school annual value of the purported new AAC deal with ESPN

  • Slightly less than we are getting now. ($1M - $2M)

  • About what we are getting now ($2M)

  • Well it's a good deal so ... uh twice what we are getting now. ($3M-$4M)

  • >$4M but < $10M

  • $10M

  • >$10M but < $15M

  • SEC money

POLL WITHIN A POLL:

1) for the glass half empty people (say, led by @whaler11 ); how would a “rabbit out of the hat” result (say, over 10 mil) impact your view of the conference and the future of UConn athletics, if at all?

2) for the glass half full people (say, led by @Dooley ); how would a horrible deal (say, less than 6 mil) impact your view of the conference and the course UConn should chart going forward, if at all?

As someone who subscribes to all the streaming services and has a Roku I guess I’m fine with that route.

As someone else asked, would ESPN+ content be up for grabs to SNY or locals? I remember watching games on like WB11 as a kid and it was called ESPN+.

What are the home and away records vs P5. Since most games are away I think?

That was ESPN Plus which did syndication production.

The new ESPN+ is not going to have content anywhere but ESPN+.

10 mil and I’d doff my cap to Mr Aresco and never speak ill of him again.

Would buy UConn time to get some real solutions in place.

From an interest standpoint the league is always going to suck. I’m never going to care about SMU and nationally nobody is ever going to care about the American.

Oh yeah...more away games.

I didn't want to plow through all of them...but I did look at UCF 2010-18.

VS

...ACC......3 home, 1 neutral
...Big 12...1 away, 1 neutral
...B1G......1 home, 4 away, 1 neutral
...SEC......2 home, 2 away, 3 neutral

Home...6
Away...6
Neutral...6

No...the results are the results...I just sifted data further...P5 wins...and the nature of those wins.
No, he was talking about being competitive with P5 teams and you chose a different metric wins against teams with a winning record. Apples and oranges, right?

That’s fair. Follow up question; what is the number that Areseco has to reach in order for you to think this deal is ok?

That's why I set up the polls to show voters. You are spot on. This poll is a consumer (fan) confidence indicator, not an indicator of the deal.

I consider myself in team @Dooley. I'd define a horrible deal the first choice (decreasing value) and the second choice (flat value) as a horrible deals Double the existing deal is also a bad deal but somewhat less bad. Above $4M but < $10 we build a narrative that we are the best G5 conference. But $10 or greater our narrative is that we are >G5 but<P5.

This deal is a very interesting test of how ESPN views us and whether it wants to support the conferences continued existence.

What would you envision those real solutions to be?

id be pretty impressed if they get 8

Same, I just have a hard time seeing how they get more than six. As fun as the UCF/Memphis/USF/Houston football successes have been - nobody watches them.

ESPN themselves is partially to blame for that. If they're paying more, hopefully their coverage changes too

$10mm - extremely impressed
$8-9mm - good, not great.
$6-7mm - about what I expect
<$5.1mm - shut down football
