Geez, the one thing ND didn't want to do was foul

Equally dumb foul by Duke.

It's a 4 point game with 27 seconds remaining.

Missed foul shoots - 2 of 8 for the poor kid...disaster bowl! Man, would I love Duke to pull this out!

After watching this game and the South Carolina game yesterday, I noticed that these games go 2+ hours and ours finish in about 1:45. Seems like this 4th quarter has been going for 20 minutes.

.-.
Coach A B C I forget... does she want to win this? Why was the 3 not attempted with 18 to go?

Wow, FT shooting is awful.
Speaking of FT shooting...guess what team currently leads the NCAA in FT%!!!

1 UConn 20 20-0 238 299 79.6
2 Columbia 19 11-8 232 293 79.2
3 South Fla. 20 15-5 316 401 78.8
4 Creighton 23 11-12 221 282 78.4
5 UT Martin 21 14-7 201 260 77.3
6 Washington 21 16-5 321 416 77.2
7 UMKC 20 7-13 223 290 76.9
8 Oregon St. 20 17-3 226 294 76.9
9 St. Mary's (CA) 21 17-4 378 492 76.8
10 Stetson 20 12-8 251 328 76.5

Notre Dame 68 Duke 61. Duke is still searching for a signature win that's needed to get in the tournament. Nice win by your team orangutan

Well, nobody fouls at the end of blowouts.

Duke was up by 5 with 6:00 to go, but ND closed on an 18-6 run.

Thanks, Duke were excellent opponents tonight. They punched ND in the mouth, but I expected that on a Big Monday.

I really thought ND was in trouble but they finally got some stops and made their surge. If Duke brings that energy every game, they should basically never lose at home.

Glad ND survived that. Now they need to sharpen up significantly before playing Louisville because they will be hungry and flying around as well.

Love watching ND's Ogunbowale. She has great ball handling skills..

Seems everyone in Duke can rebound ....
WHY ARE WE SO OBSESSED WITH ND???

a 4 page thread with over 115 comments regarding ND vs. an unranked team? Good grief! ;)
Because lots people want to see if Duke can beat ND. And, ya, almost.....almost

I actually think it's because this is the one place people can be fans of and talk about any team. Go anywhere else and it's horribly bias towards that boards team. People on this forum seem to love all wcbb.
I was being sarcastic, or tongue-in-cheek. People sometimes complain when we have super long Tennessee threads and I wanted to point out that ND is a compelling rival that will earn lots of comments just like South Carolina and a few other teams. Even tho Tenn is not a "rival" any longer, they will still get discussed too...!

Interesting game - my impression was Duke was playing free and loose and fast through about 13 minutes of the second half and outscored ND by 15. Then with that five point lead, it seemed they went into a stalling, very deliberate offense for the next five minutes and lost the game. This reminds me of what Geno said about men's coaches trying to manage every minute of a game and killing the sport - not sure it was actually JPM, but they seemed to look to her for direction while bouncing the ball just over half court on each of those slow and futile offensive sets.

I don't know. I know some people on The Boneyard don't like the phrase "The eye test", butI've been watching ND games throughout the year and I don't see where this team has improved since they've played UCONN. To me they seem virtually at the same level. Whereas UCONN has visibly improved with the continued maturation of KLS, Butler, Gabby and Chong. Maybe my eyes are deceiving me.

Well we're in conference play now, and there is a bit of a difference between playing Duke and playing Tulsa. Duke may not be coached very well, but they do have talent on the team that can at least put up a fight. The ACC may not be a league full of spectacular teams, but again teams that aren't great still have enough talent recruited based on name brand alone that can make for a tough(er) night every now and again. Outside of USF, who in our conference can remotely challenge us? Of course we look much better when we're blowing teams out by 50 and 60 week in week out.
