NCAA Softball Tournament

Kentucky is not going down quietly.

Wow, 4-3, bases loaded, full count, top of the 7th, struck out looking. Can't get more dramatic than that.

Just as ESPN2 switched to the OU-UW game, Sami Reynolds tied it at 1 w/ a bomb.

Apparently there is quite a bit of concern that the batters boxes are not the appropriate distance from the plate.

I don't think Washington is going to win a home run derby w/ Oklahoma. Both have a solo shot so far. 2-1 Sooners in the B3.

OU hasn't bee teeing off, but they are up 4-1 now. UW offense is back to being non-existent again.

UW making it interesting. Solo shot T7. Now 2 on w/ 1 out. The CF who had an error that allowed 2 runs to score now has a chance for redemption.

.-.
Game over. Grounded into fielder's choice, runner tried to come home from 2nd, nailed at the plate. 4-2.

That was a stupid, dumb play by UW to end the game. Either the 3rd base coach or the runner screwed up. That run meant nothing. The tying run was the runner safe at 1st. They wasted the opportunity For no reason. Add in the fact that the announcers didn’t catch on to that and say anything. That’s bad.

By the way, why isn’t @southie commenting on this thread as Texas is playing OSU and is down 4-1 in the top of the 6th. I picked the Longhorns here. Though in the top of the 5th Coach White also had his own brain cramp sending his 1st base runner on a steal with 2 outs, down by 3 runs. Why? Just dumb base running occurring today.

Florida is looking like they'll go down 0-1 now. Still, I think Kentucky, UCLA, and Florida can come back from being down 0-1. Washington? It's just not gonna happen. You haven't seen the full extent of Oklahoma's power yet.

And I can see somewhat of a chance for Arkansas, but I'll be really surprised. They have talent, but they're not quite as talented as Arizona. They're 15-0 against SEC teams #8-13, but just 4-6 against the Top 7.

Yep.

I can't figure out why Tarr keeps playing Wilis in RF. She was hot in limited AB earlier in the season, but since becoming a regular she's plummeted to around .250 hitting. Got her first post season hit today, in fact her first hit in more than 2 weeks. Dating back to the first game of the regular season finale series against Stanford. It's not like she's an outstanding glove either. I would much rather see Agan or Husky at that position.

Arizona up 3-1 against Arkansas. Maybe a Pac 12 team can actually win a game in the Supers.

One thing I have noticed about the softball umpires this season, and continued in the Regionals and so far in Supers is the complete miscalls of the plate umpires. It seems like a good number of them base their calls on where the catcher frames the ball by yanking their glove back into the strike zone. This seems to be pretty consistent in most of the games so far.
Ok, I am finished.

What? We can't delete our posts anymore? When did that happen?

Arizona finished in 4th place in the Pac 12, but so far have been easily the best Pac 12 team in the post season. Up 7-1 now, 4 runs this inning.

Kilponen being pushed to the brink. Not going have much left anymore if you don't take her out now.

*edit. Like i said. Poor decision to let Kilponen keep pitching when her arm was clearly getting sore. Change should've been made after that walk.

Florida St. forced extra innings. LSU got 1 in the top of the 8th.

Arizona leading Arkansas 10-4, B7 now.

I am glad to see coaches talking out loud about this.
Will it do any good? The committee was so brazen, I kinda doubt they care what anybody thinks. They can't possibly think they wouldn't get called out for it, but still did it.

LSU's performance to end the game was absolutely pathetic. What a choke job. Tidwell has no business playing at this level.

Well, I don't know if it will do any good. But I do know that if coaches keep their mouth shut and take it, nothing will ever change. You may be right in that they don't care what anybody thinks, especially when they don't have to explain their thinking. But there is one of two things going on, incompetence or bias. Talking out loud about it is the first step in exposing which one of those two it is and MAYBE getting something done about it. Because this is not fair to the kids.

I'm a new softball fan. I haven't really followed intensely until this year, but I'm really liking what I'm seeing and I'm eagering anticipating nearly every game.

I love watching and always root for the underdog. Except last night when James Madison beat Mizzou
