NBA Summer League

Shabazz's passing skills are on full-display right now. He is putting lobs in perfect places, sliding between-the-legs touch passes in there, throwing one-handed darts and hitting guys in full stride, and just now he made a gorgeous two-handed bounce pass in transition. He's in full control of the game right now.

looks like he got tired in the last minute of the half, few dumb decisions. doesn't take away from the table setting he did in this 50+ point half. the heat actual run nba offense, a lot of these summer league teams are playing pick up.

Bazz is going to surprise everyone in the league, all this talk about him being a solid back up point guard is nonsense. Bazz will be a starting point guard, people will probably jump all over me but he reminds me of Chris Paul.

on a non Bazz note, Marquise Teague still doesn't look anything like an NBA player, how is he still in the league? Teague and Daniel Orton are examples of kids getting a boost just because they went to Kentucky.

10 pts 5-10 shooting 6 assists in the 3rd. He's gonna be fine. Nice "Euro "step. Getting some blow with 4 to go in the 3rd.

an area that still needs cleaning up, turnovers, way too many that are unforced.

These games are so unstructured and loosely officiated, to the extent that the trial officials can't keep up with the pace a lot of the time OR they focus on the less important things, that turnovers can be a very misleading stat when looked at in a vacuum.

He was interviewed after the game. Wow, he is an unbelievable representation of UConn. Everybody loves him. He has such poise with the media. I'm so proud of him and can not wait to see his career play out.

Giffey has not left the bench in two games. Disappointing, but he will do fine in Europe.

Nets played 3 games in a row, 2 back to back blowout losses, and they couldn't give Kromah a quick run?

I say the same thing all the time. they both have the same movements. Neither is overly athletic, but both are extremely crafty and use the same head/ shoulder/ ball fakes. They even make the same "skip" bounce pass where they lift the off leg and then the ball high over their head for the high entry bounce pass. They really do move very similarly if that makes sense. Glad someone else sees that comparison

it goes without saying that I love Bazz, but he's nowhere near as quick as even the diminished CP3 after the meniscus issues, let alone what he was in his early 2os.

I've only seen one Heat game, the one Bazz played well in, anybody else watching these, what is going on with his shot? 1-10 so far today, I know its summer league but damn this is looking ugly.

I've seen all of his summer league games except the first one. Part of the problem is he's just missing shots. The defense being played in this Summer League pales in comparison to some of the better defenses he saw in his senior year at UConn - they're giving him a ton of space on pick and rolls, and he just isn't making them pay. His shot looks a little bit flat - one of the announcers commented about a thumb injury, which I hadn't heard about.

Shot selection has also been a problem. He's taking a lot of shots early in the clock, that, while decent looks, aren't going to buy him a lot of good will with his teammates. Clearly, he's not going to have the same sort of leeway in the NBA that he did in college, so that's probably going to be an adjustment process for him.

I'm not too concerned about his jump shot, however, he appears to be forcing the issue in other facets of the game. He's over-dribbling, taking the ball too deep and getting swallowed up, and just generally trying to do too much.

I've watched every Heat game and I've never seen Bazz's shot so far off...missing left, right, short, long wide open looks. Severe rust? Not the Bazz we know.

He became too reliant on Senhor. It's our fault.

yea just looking at the boxscores I also have to ask why in the hell is he taking so many shots, lol. if his shot isn't falling he needs to start spreading the ball around.

Have you seen who he has to work with? Noone can locate the basket let alone put a ball through it on this team except Ennis. Summer League is going to be rough for shabazz.

if Lebron leaves the real Heat ain't gonna look much better. I guess the one positive is he cut down on the turnovers today but man these shooting figures are tough to look at.

I always thought Bazz has more a Steve Nash type game than CP3. Not as good a shooter yet as those 2 but very crafty.

No worries. It's like baseball. A guy can hit .100 in Spring Training, and then got out and have a .300+ season no problem.

It's not like Bazz is ever going to lack for confidence, and we know he can shoot. It will come.
