Mullins/Reed Status?

It’s Tuesday guys… named after Tyr, god of war so okay seems folks being upset fits.

GTD is 3 days and a lot of turkey away.

Hurley said they are having Thanksgiving on Wednesday to give the tryptophan enough time to clear their systems by Friday's game.

Right it's like the passenger of the car who tells you to have patience in traffic, yeah I know I have patience, I have too much patience.
My favorite "backseat driver" story involves two other couples, and my wife and me, going into NYC for an event. Everyone was giving driver their thoughts as to where we should go coming out of the Holland tunnel. Apparently, by that time he was fed up and literally stopped in the stream of traffic and turned around and looked at me and said "and CL, which way do you think we should go? I feel as if it's important to get everyone's input." I just laughed and said that I trusted his judgment. Meanwhile, horns are blaring all around us and he's ignoring him with a very calm demeanor, saying "and everyone else? Does anyone else have any further thoughts?" The car was dead silent at that point and finally, he pleasantly says "great thanks for your help everyone."

I thought it was hysterical.

Hilarious. Sounds like the other five are posting in this thread.

I appreciate the patience posts, but I recall too well that the SEC rolled everyone in out of conference games and that led to a ridiculous, and undeserved 14 teams getting in. 3-4 of those teams were ass. So far, UConn lost a home game against the Big XII it clearly would have won. Now we may lose a neutral game against the B1G. These games could cost Georgetown or another Big East school a bid.

I understand Hurley is just worrying about UConn and having his team at full strength for February - March. So he's being cautious. But these games do matter. This year it's the Big XII that looks like it's wrecking everyone. We need to go 2-1 against their best.

Going into the season , what 2 players were we all most excited to see? Year 2 Tarris Reed and super steal recruit Braylon Mullins. We are still waiting. Can you blame the Yard for being ornery? It’s like getting up Christmas morning and hearing Santa hit traffic on the NJ Turnpike, no estimate on arrival time.

Well said. Every fan base in the country who cares just as much about their program, in any sport, would feel this way. It's not just the BY. We're still great fans, the coaches aren't doing anything in practices to cause these injuries, dealing with injuries is out of anyone's control, especially ours. So....it just sucks. Sometimes things just suck

When I tried to express the fact that I was frustrated a few days ago it became a feeding frenzy. Frustrated can be confused with angry when it is expressed in words and taken out of context or the real meaning is not represented in writing as well as it could be.

But emails and texts will never replace a conversation as much as those under 45 years old think it should. So message boards like this or any social media platforms become a very easy place to take comments and put another meaning into someone’s else’s written words.

Some of us are old enough to remember the old newspaper quotes where a reporter only put it part of a players quote or statement into an article. So it was not delivered in full context. Now electronic media allows for every written word to be taken out of context.

If you are a UConn basketball fan I would find it hard to believe that you would not be frustrated at the current situation. And unfortunately the longer it continues no matter what our BY experts say it will impact our chances down the road.

Yes we can maybe beat IL without Reed or Mullins playing, but that would mean Karaban or Ball would have to have very good games. We know Alex is limited as a feature go to guy and Ball is going through a confidence crisis so as a fan I will watch but until we put the team on the court we thought we had my expectations have been modified.

I get what you're saying, totally. Not sure there is much to be frustrated about, other than guys getting injured at all. But, yeah, it happens. Ask Geno. Best coach in the history of the game and he could barely field a team with all the injuries he's had.

The bolded part, however, I disagree with, especially considering that it is only November. Clingan was possibly the most important piece of the 2024 championship team and his injury had him out until mid January. They'll be fine. Better that Mullins misses as much time as necessary rather than rush him back like they potentially did with McNeeley last year.

I don’t get frustrated by having injured players not playing. Even less so between games.

Perhaps a little bc we lost to AZ by 4 without Reed and Mullins and almost half the writers left out that fact.

But we play for a title not just OOC or if we are seeded 1 or 2 or 5.

Most Hurley teams are different come March and crush opponents. That is always worth this price of admissions (or early frustrations)

PS - cranberry sauce done - used cold pressed oj and some manuka honey.

It does suck not to see us at full strength but we were fortunate to have no serious injuries in March during our back to backs so I would say lady luck has been on our side and we just have to be patient because when we’re at full strength, look out!

Geno, who is the best women’s coach in the history of their game, has had some seasons with crazy injuries and probably would have 1-2 more without these. But the women have those knee issues so it comes with the territory.

Looking forward to a fully healthy squad , and of course peaking towards the right time of the season .

Why would guys practice last couple of days and NOT play? If they are healthy enough to practice shouldn’t they be able to play…at least 10-15?
Right on.....it's like Cal Ripken never existed!

I am guessing Hurley is simply making sure they have zero setbacks. If he said today they are playing and one or both had a setback, there would be a meltdown here. Just think he is being cautious to make sure they come out of these next 2 days fine. Seems to me like they are both likely playing on Friday.

You have to see how their bodies respond after they have practiced. If hamstring or ankle gives them ANY problems they definitely won’t play. If their bodies are ok after practice then they will have them play.
