More trouble in ACC paradise?

Correct. Boeheim was suspended and lost career wins because of his assistant coach. He then came back and (the school) announced a retirement date and the coach-in-waiting (many years) would take over. That retirement date was withdrawn and the assistant went to U Washington as HC. Recruits didn't know who was going to be the HC and for how long. Recruiting dropped off. Boeheim retired and Red got the job because he was a great player and a nice guy... and turned out to be a lousy coach. After SU loses its first game in the ACC tournament, he will be fired.
it must be frustrating because Red did get a decent roster together this year, but those guys are playing playground ball.

Most of the things Louisville is asking for in their letter (collective negotiations for TV rights, doing away with the NCAA) is going to leave UConn even more on the outside looking in.
If the ACC, Big 12, and G5 try to push for collective negotiations of TV rights we might see The SEC and B1G actually choose the nuclear option and blow it all up. UConn might directly benefit from this as a number of schools like Pitt, Cuse, and yes Louisville might be looking for some new conference mates.

let's get the old gang back together.

I think you may have a problem with your football HC as well. Not sure what rational he could possibly have had to put that kid under center last season other than throwing in the towel.

so I checked out an ACC message board, not sure how active it is. But this FSU fan keeps bringing up UConn and I don't see much if any pushback. perhaps they've reached a turning point and see the writing on the wall.

"Well the thing is, UConn’s basketball brand is worth the most in the BE (no numbers to back it up), so they are lifting up everybody else. Surely you don’t think UConn is equal to Providence or Creighton. Just like you would not pretend that Wake basketball is worth as much as Duke. The question is: how much more? I don’t have any numbers, just gut feelings. So how much more of a basketball brand does UConn need to be to be additive to the ACC? You know that UConn’s ceiling for football is pretty much maxed out as an Indy and with their media coverage.

My conclusion is to get them at a bargain rate now/soon which fills the ACC’s scheduling needs and while the ACC is in a position of power. Asking them to take a pay cut when the ACC is losing members is not going to work for them. Get them integrated and elevate their program to P status."

"2 Divisions, 4 Pods - UConn, TCU, Tulane

ATLANTIC
UNC, Duke, VT, UVA, Pitt
NCSU, Wake, Clem, GT, UL

COAST
FSU, UM, SU, BC, UConn
*Tulane, Stan, TCU, SMU, Cal

Each team plays their pod members annually, 1 annual cross pod, 2 semi-annual cross pod games, 2 cross division games.
Example: FSU - Annuals UM, SU, BC, UConn, Tulane. Semi-annual Stan, TCU, SMU, Cal. 2 rotating Atlantic teams."

"I’m counting on UConn paying for themselves with full ACCN rates in Connecticut and strengthening ACCN demand in other NE markets like Boston and NYC. ACCN carriage rates will not always be stagnant at the current rate. I’m hoping that TCU along with regular football games vs FSU and Miami can flip the entire state of Texas into full ACCN rates."

The guy kind of seems like their version of Shizzle who just throws out scenarios from time to time. I can't imagine the other teams he's referencing being of interest to the ACC. It's pretty doubtful. TCU would leave the big 12 for the ACC regardless.

So not only does he think the ACC will keep all of their members (wishful thinking), but he thinks a Big 12 school will leave the Big 12 to join the ACC.

Can't blame a fan for being hopeful. I've been chasing dream scenarios for over a decade. I'm just pointing out that people seem agreeable to adding UConn.

If they had any sense, the ACC and ESPN would throw out BC and add UConn. It has been demonstrated over the last few football seasons that UConn can compete with the ACC teams. ESPN determines who is in and who is out.

And, they need to re-energize their fan base with a geographic rival just 80 miles down the road.
A rival who has BC fans rooting for them so they can get that dinette set for free!

None of this has any chance of happening.

The collective bargaining gambit has big fans in the two conferences that are not making as much money as the top two, but their plans do not include bringing any G5 folks along with them.

Which is fine because their plan is DOA.

In your haste to fill up the board with more nonsense, you didn't read what he wrote.
