MNT's 2024

I like all our guys but they shouldn't have any input on the manager. They haven't accomplished enough for a say. Poch is a good man, he'll be tough but fair.

So now I'm back in watching the upcoming friendlies. Interest is renewed and reinvigorated

He had a good year with Chelsea but was let go over strategic disagreements with the club.

I hope brings John Brooks back into the fold.

Pochettino likes a 4-2-3-1 and a high press. Should be fun.

I'm really surprised they were able to pull this hire off. He's got a few weeks to work with the team before they face Canada on Sep 7.

Can't say they didn't get a big name, but he does have ties to the people running USSF.

I hope he can work with the holes in the talent pool.

Chelsea fan since 2001 (pre-Abramovich). Very pleased with this hire.

From what I read, we have to hold the enthusiasm for a moment. He has a contract issue with Chelsea that has to be sorted out before he can sign the contract for the USA job, but both he and Matt Crocker have agreed for Pochettino to take the job. Fingers crossed everything gets sorted out. However, with all of that said, he is expected to be taking over for the friendlies starting with Canada on Sep 7.

If all works out, this is a very good hire for USA.

He has ties to Matt Crocker, the director of USSF back when they were at Southhampton in 2013. Crocker was in charge of the youth program while Pochettino was coach of the senior team.

This hire, if all the contractual stuff with Chelsea gets taken care of, is a boost for USA Soccer and its fans. If they ended up hiring Steve Cherundulo, I would have been demoralized, kind of like when UConn Football hired Randy Edsall in November 2016.

I read further and Boehly from Greenwich CT no longer owns Chelsea, I believe. But maybe he had a hand in this

That has to be sarcasm. "Let?"

Poch will have better tactics and will infuse a sense of reality. Hopefully the USSF has the sense to stay out of the way.

But just wait for the knives to come out from the MLS slanted media. You know that they are seething right now.

Again, this team is laughably bad. I thought for a long time this was purely on coach and tactics and that the talent was there, but these guys are simply not very good at soccer. A front line of Wright, Balogun and Pepi might be the least technically gifted attacking group I have seen a US team put out. Really pathetic.

Imagine not bringing Marlon fossey into this team and keeping Shaq Moore around. Thank God ggg is gone

He is one of the few who may have helped himself this camp. Schulte being another. Maybe Morris/Lund (as roster depth?)

There are a couple who didn't hurt themselves, but didn't help themselves either.

Quite a few who hurt their chances.

However, on the other hand, we played Canada and New Zealand. And if you can't look good against them, SMH.

Granted we didn't have quite a few 1st teamers (probably, anyway), but well, again, it was Canada and New Zealand. SMH harder.

Yes. Tough to get any read on the second game of this window in a friendly against a far flung opponent when most guys are just trying to get back to Europe without a knock
