LSU had alot more talent going into the season than UVA. Talent wise, UVA probably doesn't crack the top 7 in team talent... in the state of Virginia. VPI, Richmond, VCU, ODU, Liberty, James Madison, Longwood... all probably have more talented rosters. The Cavs are probably better than Virginia Union and Virginia State ... maybe ?
Your Southern bias: you forgot that GMU is also a VA team.
(And W&M)

One more addendum, ponder for a moment how good Virginia would be right now if they had hired Mulkey instead of LSU. Today LSU beat #23 Texas A&M by 9. LSU is on a 13 game win streak, and has yet to lose to a ranked team. So much for her soft preseason schedule. As I said before, it works for her. I expect LSU and Duke to measurably improve their rosters next year.
Mulkey has Satia Messer and their both proven on the recruiting trails . Tina is literally trying to get a foot in the door. Not a good comparison but I do agree UVA will need to start looking elsewhere their getting worse and worse by the year.

Worse than Longwood? That’s cold, TDF.

Well Longwood is arguably the best team in the Big South... the same conference that last season produced everyone's favorite.. High Point

Well GMU is north of Fredericksburg, so are they really a VA team? ;):p:D:eek::rolleyes: . UVA did beat up on W&M so...

Longwood is 242 in Massey; UVA is 143

Yeah we northerners have taken over NoVa are marching on Richmond. :)

Pretty shocking.

perhaps a reflection of the limited minutes she played plus I’m guessing VA is short handed

While I hate multiple threads, this is the one time where I think a new thread might’ve been warranted — this is pretty amazing news. To my knowledge, a player has never played for 2 teams in the same season.

Actually looks like VA has a full roster. No desperate need for Mir to be eligible … other than the fact the team stinks

ACC news, but I guess some of yall might be interested.

Thanks triad, best news I’ve heard today. I’m happy for Mir that she won’t have to sit for nearly a year before taking the court again.

She has 11 points in the first half
Certainly helps when your opponent has no idea you're eligible so they dont even bother to scout you. (Azzi may have benefited from that a bit last night as well.)

And they turned her into a guard.

She has way more chance to succeed as a guard than a forward and she probably will play a lot freer in an unstructured team. Looks like she has the best stat line of the team, which does not say much about VA.

And once again, the floodgates are thrown wide open.

Just a matter of time before Notre Dame's next Jessica Shepard transfers in February or early March and gets immediate eligibility.

She finished with 11 pts and 9 rebounds. Just missed a Double Double. Happy for Mir

4 of the rebounds were O boards. She also had 3 blocks. She's getting playing time!

However, the Cavs are pretty bad. They are 3-14, with wins over Fullerton, William and Mary, and GW. They may not win in the conference.

Wrong thread, I know...but does anyone know if Saylor applied for a "Mir" immediate eligibility waiver?

Arkansas said she won't play until fall 2022, but I've never seen Coach Neighbors asked that question specifically to see if they had.

I don't know about Saylor, but she's playing well on the opponent's practice squad. I wouldn't be surprised if she applies and gets one.

I read that Saylor has to wait until next year. She appears happy though and is "lighting them up" in practice.

What's your interpretation? They chose not to request a waiver, or it was denied?

Yes, she is standing out in practice. I saw her 3x in high school, and she was not the same player we saw at UConn.

Perhaps due to her injuries, everyone is willing to wait until next year? Wasn't it shin splints or something?
