It was posted on Facebook that Mir has transferred to Virginia with Olympian and WNBA Champion Tina Thompson.

Congratulations to Mir. I hope Virginia and coach Thompson will not allow her to cheat her potential, and help her to achieve everything possible. All the best to you. You have greatness within you, let it shine.

Anyone know if she has to sit out, or can she play now?

Virginia is interesting choice IMO since they'll likely experience a coaching change in the next 2 years unless Thompson can make big improvements. At any rate, best of luck to Mir. She should have ample opportunity to play once eligible.

Closeish to home but really question if Tina Thompson will last much longer.
Agreed. Tina's been on the knifes edge for at least two years now. Hope it all works out for Mir.

I believe that she is able to play right away. It's a new semester and there is no sitting out a season anymore under the NCAA rules.

good for her........great school academically but not great at women's basketball........she'll have plenty of opportunity to show her stuff against some tough competition............
I don't mean to be mean, but at the D1 level what stuff does she have to show. Love to be shown wrong and I like this young woman with the beautiful smile.

I believe she has to sit until next Fall like Saylor.

Good for Mir. Virginia is a great school, and, although hardly a neighborhood school, it's much closer to family and friends. I hope she proves to be the player so many of us have been hoping for...

UVA's Institute of World Languages is pretty impressive. Offers a great variety of language studies, including Arabic, which IIRC was Mir's declared major. Looks like a great academic fit, and I couldn't be happier for her.

Athletic 6' 2" Marquette Transfer Camryn Jordon is at VA and doing well 13 pts 6 RB. I thought that was a big loss for Marquette. Would make a nice pair of rebounding forwards.

Now UConn has only 12 players, and 5 are injured. Hope Geno can get some transfers soon ...

Pretty tall team. Here is the official roster:

they've already lost to Rhode Island, Richmond and American as part of a 3-8 record........maybe it's more about quality than height at this point.........I'm pretty sure she'll be their top ranked player........BTW they have a grad student McKenna Dale from Brown and originally from Storrs CT on their roster.......

You’re not kidding.

I would think Mir would do well on a team that is undersized where a 5’10” would naturally play forward. (Which is a lot of teams)

Her fit on a super tall team seems … odd.

Be interesting to see.
