Nan all feistyThey won. That’s all I want. Free throws, percentages, turnovers, I don’t care - just win the damn game.

Stanford shot 44.6% last night...as noted towards the end there were several point blank shots that missed. When you shoot 44% against Mercer you know the offense is...not good.
Nan, you sound like Al Davis. They won. That’s all I want. Free throws, percentages, turnovers, I don’t care - just win the damn game.
I think that we will see more of AZZI and Caroline as the tournament moves on.Some thoughts on the Mercer game:
- SHE’S BAAAAAACK! Paige starting today’s game is an indication that Geno knows he can not limit his reigning NPOY’s minutes if the Huskies are to win banner # 12. Paige got a little more comfortable on the court. She played around 25 minutes, did a little bit of everything, while filling up the stat sheet, as the Huskies rolled over Mercer in their opening round game.
- The Mercer Bears are a quick and athletic team. They provided the Huskies with a good opening round test in the Big Dance, that should serve them well in their next game vs UCF or FL.
- UConn’s pressure defense once again caused nightmares for an opponent, as the Huskies turned over Mercer time after time, leading to easy baskets, while also holding Mercer to an anemic 22%.
- In case you missed it, UCONN OUTSCORED MERCER 20 – 0 IN THE 3RD QTR!
- I would really love to see UConn run more plays for Azzi to allow everyone to see a lot more of that flawless 3-pt shooting stroke of hers. Azzi took and made all 3 of her shots behind the arc.
- EVERBODY EATS!!! All 9 regular rotation players scored for the Huskies, with Christyn leading the show with only 13 points.
- WE WANT UCONN!
Shut out cincy in the 2nd quarter of the big east tourney in Jamelles last yearOverall, I was pleased. I thought the defense was really good--I don't believe we have ever thrown a shutout, in the regular season or post-season. Gut, Q3 was 20-0. The offense was rusty and affected by the Mercer defense. We had a couple of possessions with 4 missed layups each--painful! Generally speaking, I want Paige and Azzi handling the ball. Liv trying to thread a bounce pass to Liya through 3 defenders is not a winning play. I want to see Paige shooting a little more and Azzi shooting a lot more. We should be able to shoot 50% against a 2-seed, even one that defends well.
way too many missed lay upsWhen you shoot 44% against Mercer you know the offense is...not good.
Just so everyone knows, UConn actually shot 44.8%....I would call that 45% more than 44%.Stanford shot 44.6% last night...as noted towards the end there were several point blank shots that missed.
I completely agree, Oldude--UConn did a very poor job of getting the ball to Azzi, several times she was open, but Liv failed to see her and seemed more interested in jacking up several long twos, unsuccessfully, I might add.. And CW trying to dribble the air out the ball, failed to move the ball around the perimeter. The same with Caroline when she was open...I would really love to see UConn run more plays for Azzi to allow everyone to see a lot more of that flawless 3-pt shooting stroke of hers. Azzi took and made all 3 of her shots behind the arc.
