Men's soccer 2017

Game ends with a 1-1 tie. Georgetown had the better of the play, John Tuite on WHUS was saying the Hoyas look like a legitimate top 20 team.

I went to this one. While it is true that Gtown had the majority of possession for the first 2/3 of the game, Uconn had many more and better opportunities at the end of the game and in both OTs.

As an aside, the atmosphere at Marrone is just great. The college kids are into it. There are families and hardcore soccer fans. If you haven't taken in a game, it is well worth it.

Morrone Stadium may be a badly outdated soccer facility, but the atmosphere that surrounds the game is a big thing for the mens soccer program. Between the atmosphere at games and the outstanding attendance every year, it helps to keep the program very relevant in the college soccer world. The new soccer facility will do a world of good for the men's program.

Thiam goal off a header gives UConn a 1-0 lead in the 1st half against Hofstra. Assist goes to Munir Saleh.

North Florida game, Dayonn Harris is still out of the lineup. The Huskies have a goal explosion in the first half, at least by UConn men's soccer standards. Abdou Mbacke Thiam scored twice to give UConn a 2-0 half time lead over the Ospreys.

Uggh. North Florida ties it at 2 with 12 minutes to go in the second half.

UConn and North Florida tied at end of regulation, so it is on to overtime.

UConn and North Florida ends in a tie. A VERY disappointing result for UConn, especially after being up 2-0 at the half. But the big concern is that both Hofstra and North Florida gave UConn fits in the 2nd half of both games. Things are not looking good. AAC play for UConn begins next Saturday at Temple.

Thanks so much for the updates - greatly appreciated
I hate to say this but may be time to think about a coaching change - the winning attitude seems to have waned in recent years
Its a great program and I have been watching since 1965 when the field was east/west no fence no stands and two long wooden benches
Been a Friend of Soccer and proud member of the old North Goal Rowdies
I like Ray but maybe, just maybe, time for some young blood

The title is long in rear view mirror and results are just not there any longer. Just not sure if they would make move to replace him or gonna ride him out until retirement. A change would be welcome though

Temple game in Philadelphia, UConn has a 1-0 in the first half off a goal by Abdou Mbacke Thiam.

Temple has a goal waived off in the 2nd half, so UConn maintains the 1-0 lead. Still, sounds like Temple has been having the better offensive chances in the 2nd half.

10 minutes to go, UConn gets an insurance goal off a counterattack breakaway from Niko Petridis. 2-0 UConn, first goal of the season for Petridis. By the way, Petridis did not start in this game.

Tuesday night soccer versus Providence. For the second straight game, Apostol and Coly are in the starting lineup over DaSilva and Petridis.

Providence game, no score at the half. However, John Tuite on WHUS says that this is one of the best halves of soccer that UConn has played this season. 11 shots and many good chances that just didn't go in the net.

UConn wins 1-0 over Providence off a Abdou Mbacke Thiam goal with 8 minutes to go in the game. Petridis with the assist making quite the play coming out of the corner. UConn now with a 5 game unbeaten streak. Next up a Friday home game against Tulsa, a team that has recently given UConn fits.

Friday night game against Tulsa at Morrone. No score at the half. Most noteworthy moment was a point blank save by UConn's keeper Scott Levene.

Niko Petridis did not start the game, but started the second half. Seven minutes into the half Petridis makes a long run and scores to make it 1-0 UConn.

UConn is now 2-0 in the men's soccer AAC standings, with 5 games left against AAC teams. Only the top four teams make the AAC tourney, so getting off to a fast start in the conference is essential.

Final score 1-0 UConn over Tulsa. UConn unbeaten streak now stands at 6 games. Next up for UConn on Monday night is a huge home match against unbeaten Maryland.

Coming away with a result against Maryland would be huge for this team right now. Hopefully they will keep riding this momentum...

Silly question but they don't stream the games live? I live in FF County -- would love to watch (radio doesn't cut it) but can't make the game.

They do on huskyvision.com which will probably cost $10 for the game for subpar stream quality unfortunately.

For audio, Huskyvision uses the WHUS radio broadcast feed of the game. Even watching on the computer, you still get something of John Tuite and the radio experience.

Monday night, Maryland at UConn. This game is a big step up in class for the Huskies. With the Terps dominating possession early in the game, Maryland gets off to a 1-0 lead with 18+ minutes to go in the first half.
