It does make sense, but then again I do feel like he is fugging with us.

Makes no sense...Pitt wouldn't leave the ACC unless the ACC fell apart. WVU is on an island...Pitt will not join that island over one FB game a year.

Everyone will leave every conference if they think they're going to a better place.

We know the Big Ten is not going to go to the Big 12 to expand. We know the SEC is not going to the Big 12 to expand.

If those two start to go shopping, Pitt would be more than happy to get themselves out of harm's way early on - the lesson everyone has learned is that it's better to get out too early than too late.

On the flip side, Pitt's not adding a blessed thing to the Big 12 - can't see them expanding for the likes of the Panthers and Bearcats.

Big 12, needs the conference championship game thing. If their going to play nice and form an alliance with the ACC instead of trying to poach it, then Pitt/Cincy make sense. Actually Louisville/Cincy make more sense but that would probably piss off Clemson/FSU who the ACC is looking to keep happy these days.

It's not an island once WVU gets another eastern partner or two.

Pitt/Cincy would be Plan B if FSU, U, Clem, Gtch, NCST, vtch and LSVL say no initially. Forces those schools to really shat or get off the pot at that point.

Think Connecticut becoming that much more attractive to B1G if UNC, Duke, GTch say no to Delaney....

The Big 12 is not going to expand with warm bodies just to expand. They'll add teams that will raise the revenue boat and make the football conference stronger. Pitt, Cincy and Louisville are thin gruel on all fronts there.

Have to imagine it's FSU and Clemson or nothing.

melogroovy@melogroovy
Delany may be forced to move faster. "Delany won't like being scooped and he will accelerate his time table."
melogroovy@melogroovy
This means possible frontloaded deal for UVA if MD suit goes bad. UConn may move up the list instead of harder eggs to crack.

If all those guys say no, I could see them just not expanding.

@melogroovy needs to get rid of that egg avatar.
You know what is fugged up, I looked at his feed earlier and thought I can't this take guy seriously with that fugging Egg up there.

Too much internal (and external) pressure to remain at 10 long term, I say. And We've all heard SEC cry about scheduling challenges of 14 team league. 14 is merely a pit stop for SEC and B1G on the road to at least 16...

Maybe Pitt would go for the swap from ACC to B12 because it preserves the WV-Pitt rivalry for all sports plus a B12 football schedule has the potential to be more attractive than an ACC schedule. Furthermore, under an ACC-B12 alliance, presumably Pitt would get some travel help by playing more ACC teams for other sports in general.

Its all a bit a stretch, but so isnt the idea of UNC, GT, Duke and UVA leaving their proud southern (that they dominate) conf for a northern organization steeped in MI and OH tradition. The alliance has the potential to give everyone a little more of what they want without giving up they already have. In many respects, its a nice & easy fix.

1) everyone stop with this. it should be painfully obvious who melogrovy actually is and its a no go for a twitter/wvu board stir up. no one is buying it.

2) these acc teams bring north of 20mil each and paired in a better league can be worth more based off matchups-fsu, gt, clem, ncst, unc, uva, vt
these teams bring around 20mil-miami, duke, pitt, bc, lville
these teams bring less-wake, cuse

*of note cincy and uconn are in the 20mil range

3)the b12 will long run be somewhere in the 25-30mil range imho soon so only the st tier is worth it to them. they will not land any of those schools any time soon. fsu, gt, ncst and clem are all possible but only after the acc gets blown up and they look for better lifes.

4)the b12 does have to look elsewhere eventually if they dont grab any from #3. believe it or not, houston, memphis and byu all bring the $. the b12 doesn't want to settle, but if they have to any of these 3 will do. uh regains the footprint lost by atm. sening b12 teams to uh is easy scrilla. byu we all know the deal with. memphis is a project in fball. but in all honesty is a major longterm bread winner. they have everything in place accept a fball product. they have the market, sponsors, $, fanbase, other sports, facilities etc. they are simply a fball team away. huge potential. in the nbe they look blah as a potential, in the b12 who can afford a project during these crazy CR times, they look like gold down the road. there huge potential alone will keep bsu from ever getting a serious look from the b12.
