Excellent. I missed them.Actually, Ayanna had two jump shot from about 8’. In very pretty plays, I might add

Every goal they've had for this season remains in play and achievable: BE conf and tourney titles and the natty. Geno told us weeks ago that they weren't going undefeated. This is exactly what I saw, it was a couple of poor decisions that did us in. But I really don’t think I’ve ever been this proud of any of our teams after losing. Next year when everyone is available LOOK OUT! Arguably his best team yet.
Aubrey game is more suited to having a really good Point Guard feeding her slash and dash game vs. someone who looks to pull up. Its simply not her game. It was evident today that Aubrey missed not having Nika Muhl out there. Still, Aubrey came up with a "Double-Double" today, which you would have to say, even in a loss, was impressive. (2nd D-D in a row)But the magnificent seven were victorious. I agree that we had no business hanging with Maryland. I disagree with you about the killer A's ( except for Edwards ). Aubrey went into her " I do not dare shoot mental shell" again, and every time she hesitated, she missed. So she just played the lay-up game. And she is not a good ball handler when she puts it on the floor. If we had the Aubrey who showed up against Princeton, we might have stolen this one. As for Patterson, she did well but she is not yet showing a game "necessary to defend." She still has not taken a shot beyond a lay-in or put back. So Maryland just plants someone in the paint and they fight each other. I think Ines is not physically ready to handle more than a quarter's worth of game. She did well in the first quarter. Then, she lost both steam and confidence. Did someone tell her, "don't ever shoot the ball?" They didn't even need to defend her, knowing she was looking for a passing option. I give her credit, nonetheless. No one expected her to ever be on the court if we had less than a 40 point lead. Caroline woke up a bit, but she was awful in ball security. She threw the ball away two times in the first two minutes. And
the " back court " pass to Edwards was what an eight grader might do. I agree about patience. We might as well just enjoy the Xmas holidays and look in on the Lady huskies again near the end of January. With luck ( of which this team has had little to none ), we might have a competitive team again. I need DeBerry to sink one of those outside shots. She needs the confidence.
We fans weren’t in the locker room and we didn’t play. We fans didn’t expect the team we cheer for to be within 15 or so points in this game but the Huskies, surprisingly, had a chance lateAnybody that thinks those players aren't sitting in the locker room thinking they let one get away, has never played a sport.
Since this is a serious question.Who are they? Serious question. I have no idea.
The flops bothered me because there were multiple times where they resulted in players falling over her or other Maryland players that flopped. That’s not just unsportsmanlike, but also dangerous. There needs to be an emphasis on calling flops. I’m not sure if they’re called technicals or flagrants or whatever else, but they need to be cleaned up because so many teams do this, coaches teach to do it, and then it just raises the likelihood that players get hurt or games get decided by bogus calls (early on or late in the game). It is my opinion, foolish though it may be, The 4 UConn players injured could have played this Maryland team 4 on 5 and won. Not impressed with Maryland at all. I had to laugh at Sellers complaining about the under cut call and a few seconds later was called for undercutting herself. She also is the worst kind of flopper, one who laughs about it afterwards.
If we get ( and keep) healthy, and have all of February to play together, we can become a monster. We can" payback" certain people who mis-treated us in December. Frankly, it has to be a good thing that Geno is being forced to use Ines and DeBerry. Not to mention more Patterson.I am a fan who believes 1000% in the UCONN program and team. Probably one of a few who last year thought we could beat SC in the Championship game....But going into this game, with the number of people we were down, including three starters.... I was praying that we could escape by losing less than 20. I have wholeheartedly surprised and amazed by what I saw today. A game where they were down by single digits, on the road, and with three players playing today (Ines, Amari, and Annaya) who really have seen limited minutes. The fact we played the close makes me feel 1000% better if we were to play three months from now with all our players back. This team when healthy is going to be a beast and people should be worried to face them. I was disappointed in Brenda talking about how both teams are down on manpower. Her team should have won by twice the amount they won by. I remember last year thinking, all the teams who beat up on UCONN and celebrate like they did something amazing better not see this team in March/April, because it will be very different then.
They did get consecutive jump balls. We took the ball out at the end of the half and quarter to flip the arrow back.2 things I swear Maryland got 3 strait jump balls. And I hate to say it but Edwards is going to take out the whole damn team
I loved that Amari Block on Sellers (?) driving down the lane.. classic! Go Amari! Be strong!I thought Amari played really well. I don’t have any complaints about her play today. Keep it going, kid!
The athletes are probably disappointed (I said this); we fans are thrilled and proud of how they played (I agree with this). Anyone who expects the fans to “feel one got away” is doomed to disappointment if they think we should be in agreement (said nothing like this anywhere).
Butthurt? My goodness, Husky fans are becoming more outraged with every postShe spoke on her team having injuries and being undersized. I don't see how any of that gets someone butthurt. Just seems like a stretch

With the UCONN " read and react" offense we had those turnover due to timing and lessI m estatic that CD out of her funk.. 13 pt 7 bds, 3 asst.. the TO s she will clean up… we need her big going forward
Kubek hasn't played at all because of the injury. Chardon came off the bench in the first game and was injured after 5 minutes. Reynolds averages 6 minutes and 1.3 points. Sciolla averages 3.3 minutes and zero points. so, yeah, they were decimated by injuries.Since this is a serious question.
Allie Kubek (torn ACL)
Emma Chardon (torn Meniscus)
Mila Reynolds (sick)
Ava Sciolla (sick)
It was a joke dude.Edwards has not taken out a single player. Her involvement is purely coincidental and was only because opposing players were playing aggressively and Aaliyah was doing what she was supposed to be doing—trying to make a basketball play.
I thought the same thing, synchronization with ball movement and cutters was just a little off most of the gameWith the UCONN " read and react" offense we had those turnover due to timing and less
practice time working on making those passes " work". This too will be ironed out with time!
I just see her make a shot and then they run the exact same play and she is open again and doesn’t take the shot, she just for me, makes a couple of strange decisions a game. She has been Awesome this year, but she makes bad decisions on defense and maybe I think Nan said something I didn’t think about. This is a new level for her and she is banged up and when you’re tired you make mistakes and poor decisions. She constantly gets beat and is overly aggressive with her hands and hips trying to catch up instead of giving up two points. She is always in foul trouble and is too important to make those silly mistakes. There is no excuse for her getting that many fouls so early today knowing her team’s player situation. Give up the two points and live to fight another day. She’s scoring for us but also her silly fouls are putting us in a position where she can’t help us because she’s on the bench. You must be seeing a different Lou?
Sure, that’s possible. But there’s nothing wrong with seeing it either way.Or maybe fans here do understand that perspective but just don't feel like focusing on the mistakes that were made in key moments of a winnable game. Maybe with all the injuries the team is experiencing, and maybe with what the coach is going through now, some fans just don't think today is the day to focus on the "woulda, coulda, shouldas" of a winnable game. I know that's how I feel.
Yes, it was a winnable game.
exactly. not too much to complain about considering this injury-depleted team already has 3 top 10 wins under their belt & their only 2 losses came to top 25 teams without our full roster.Every goal they've had for this season remains in play and achievable: BE conf and tourney titles and the natty. Geno told us weeks ago that they weren't going undefeated.
Lou is also a starterThis team with only 7 players and only 1, Edwards, is the starter, has done great job.
I agree with HUSKY NAN. I recall during the summer when some of the Boneyard was questiong whetherNice analysis but I’d like to stand up for Lou. She came from Fairfield where she might have to play 2 or 3 ranked teams a year, and not within a few week span. Now, she’s unexpectedly become the focus of every opponent’s - ranked opponent’s - defense. And apparently she‘s been playing so hard, her foot is sore and she’s a little gimpy and therefore less mobile. It’s got to be taking a toll.
All the credit in the world to her that she’s become so important to the team in such a short period of time. But folks need to remember that while she’s used to being The Guy at Fairfield, being The Guy at UConn is another universe. I have tremendous respect for what she’s accomplished.
i honestly think she’s just wearing down. Her foot hurts and she’s getting the physical treatment all other stars at UConn get. I’m happy she gets a week to recharge her batteries
I loved the scene of GENO giving Ines some deserved KUDOS at the end of the game, NICE!Despite the loss, here's why I liked this game. All the UCONN players learned to impact the game, but in different roles.
Patterson figured out she can score outside the paint and still get rebounds.
Ines experienced the difference between a Princeton defense and an athletic defense of MD. She did fine, it's just a whole different feel and rhythm. Geno hugged her at the end.
AE is officially in BEAST MODE PERIOD.
Amari seemed to play with more instinct and less hesitation. Block on Sellers was crushing. She had better body control on close outs.
Aubrey missed the qb to throw her the long outlet when she beats everyone down the floor. She didn't force jumpshots. She rebounded like a DEMON.
Caroline still pressing a bit, but that's the competitor. She had some nice cuts and work under the basket.
Because they haven't been on the team all year..on the roster yes but not really on the team..they aren't playing this year while Azzi,Dorka and Nika will beI mean this in the most cordial way, but would someone kindly explain why mentioning Paige and Ice is against the rules. They are in fact injured are they not and can't play. They are among the injured who can't contribute to the team's effort in every game it plays this season.
But she also had 5 really bad TO's better than Carolines 6 I guessAubrey game is more suited to having a really good Point Guard feeding her slash and dash game vs. someone who looks to pull up. There are no asterisk's in football. She did. But she went on and on about Marylands injuries...That was more about her claim of beating Uconn...Although I would give the game an asterisk win for Maryland.
Well said. You "put on paper" exactly how I felt and couldn't find a way to express it. My sincere thanks. We fans weren’t in the locker room and we didn’t play. We fans didn’t expect the team we cheer for to be within 15 or so points in this game but the Huskies, surprisingly, had a chance late
