What does that mean?

Maryland has much better players than UConn.

At end of day it is a wide talent differential that causes these ridiculous performances.

How wide does it have to be to have players run into each other and fall all over themselves or to target better than tackle.

It was all too familiar. Overmatched, outplayed, outcoached by a much stronger & way more competent team. Horrible day.

Moving on to Merrimack next week.
Coach?

It's the first game of the season and there's really nothing left to say.

If we don't hammer Merrimack next week it's time for another reckoning.
That's the key. It has to be a hammering of Merrimack. It can't be a nail biting win like the one over Yale a few years ago or the one over Rhode Island where Lou Spanos was grateful to the heavens when they stopped Rhode Island on the last play of the game. UConn was in this same position in 2021 after getting embarrassed at Frenso State 45-0 when they had to play Holy Cross. That loss to Holy Cross was a killer and showed how far UConn Football sank into the sewer. Needless to say, that cannot happen against Merrimack.

I didn’t expect this, but I wasn’t expecting much better.

Bell looked great and the OL didn’t look terrible for having 3 new starters.

If that Anderson guy catches passes he should, Evers passing numbers look much better. His legs did intrigue me and should really show vs lower completion next week.

Tough first game….too many new pieces against a pretty good team on the road.

Hopefully the staff learned about some players and are ready to start over again next week.

That and 11 bucks will get you an extra value meal at McDonalds.

Mora said during a sideline post-game interview something like "that team today was not the one I've been seeing the last few weeks", or something like that. Well, that team we saw today was like what we saw last year, so not sure what his surprise was about.

I can see why Iowa State got rid of him. If you can't catch you might wanna use 2 hands.

There’s nothing inherently better about Maryland. If we were in the Big 10 and Maryland was an independent, we would have won today, 50-7.

I’m watching North Dakota State move the ball against Iowa State. They have a 33 year old O coordinator who came from FCS. We can make all the excuses we want. We continue to hire retreads and/or insane coaches instead of looking for innovative young talent. Did Lashlee have more talent than this UConn team? I don’t know, but with his schemes, he was able to move the ball.

Even money Sammis gets replaced as OC by October.
Can we afford his buyout? UConn will not spend the money for P4 level coaches. Insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results.

If it was year four or five, maybe even six of crappy fb, this game carries no extra meaning. Ten years (not counting two years ago and 2015) of inept unbearable football make it impossible to think this team can rebound off this game. The Mora trust clock is ticking quickly. In his defense though, I’m not quite sure there is a coach out there rn who could pull this program from the hell depth of non conference status. That team looked dead in the water after the first Maryland TD and carried the stank that there was no way they were going to overcome even a fourteen point deficit.

Already BY wants to get rid QB and the whole coaching staff after one game. I do not blame you after seeing the performance on the field today. No improvement over last year even though supposedly upgraded the talent. The coaches are not good. Could UConn compete for FCS title?
