Especially because we don't have anyone besides Hawkins that can just get a bucket. With him as cold as he was, there was no excuse to not call a timeout and draw something up.
Absolutely
Hurley can’t coach

Hurley got out-coached tonight. Makes a smart move to go to the zone but then stays in it too long- once Kolek, Joplin, & Ighuodara get 4 fouls around the 7 minute mark there was zero reason to play zone- wound up leaving guys for wide open threes. The other item- Alleyne should’ve been on the court for the last couple of minutes- better defender than Joey C & once he missed the first wide open 3- easy decision. Joey C. Missed three wide open treys in the last two minutes. Tough gritty win by Marquette- Smart continues to be a brilliant in game coach- Hurley hopefully improves in this area.

Take a deep breath, Marquette is final 4 team and Shaka is a smart coach!

I actually think Hurley did OK jobs with timeouts and adjustments except for Clingan. But I accepted the fact that he is never going to use 2 bigs.
With Sanogo playing well, Clingan just had to sit.

The loss had more to do with players not showing out, period.

Move on…

My only complaint is that we didn’t call a TO at the end.

Hawkins still has a lot to work on.
My complaint is tht Clingan should've been in for Sonogo, he effected the defense positioning, his roll off the pick made the corner men collapse HARD fast, opening up our outside shooters to either have open jump shot or a fake and drive if the defender closes out.....jmo

Relax. The new season starts Sunday night. If Marquette is knocked out in tourney, you think anyone cares about this tonight?

Sanogo with the double double 19 and 11 and doesn’t get a touch on either of those last two offensive trips . He clearly had his defender sealed and you know he would have scored or gone to the line .

And I thought Hurley should have used a timeout on the last possession if for nothing else to settle his team.

Oh well. On to the national tournament.

The Huskies had a huge opportunity when Marquette had three guys pinned to the bench with four fouls each but, shockingly, the Huskies couldn’t take advantage and grab the lead. THAT was the game. Not a good look for our guys.

Adama was dominating down low and getting boards. Stop.
Clingan has to finish more and get a better handle on the ball. He lunged for balls and came up empty handed over and over again.

He is just a freshman and tonight it showed.

Hawkins not doing enought to get open. He looked bored at times and just going through the motions.
Prosper’s length affected his game but he needs to figure it out. Really disappointed in him.

Been saying it all season, we need to get the lead and extend it for us to win big games. If the game comes down to the last couple minutes and it's a one possession type game we lose. It's been like this for years.

I think Hurley countered very well in the second half, the zone slowed them way down… we missed too many shots, you just say a cute line with nothing behind it

Too slow to change to zone, it‘s maddening

Big problem all year is not having a guy who can regularly beat his guy off the dribble. Showed up again down the stretch tonight. Marquette is really good, but they played a great game on offense, hit some ridiculous shots, and yet it was a 2 point game at the end.

We came up empty the last 5 trips, and that sealed it. The one that stood out was I think our 3rd to last possession and Sanogo had sealed his guy and was all alone inside, and we missed him.

High quality game. That we stayed in it with Hawkins and Newton unable to make shots (although in fairness to Newton he was fouled on the vast majority of them) was remarkable. But the fact that we’ve gone an entire season without being able to win a close game is unbelievable. Hurley bears his share of the blame but we had plenty of good looks in the last few minutes to get us over the hump and players missed them. Hurley can’t shoot it for everyone.

No it’s not you, I saw Karaban at one point calling him to the huddle and he never came to huddle with the other four guys. He just walked away. Also when they tried to kinda hug him after he fell he hit two of our players hands away. This is a BAD sign and I can’t wait for him to be gone. I’ve noticed this throughout the season, him being kinda lackadaisical.
Maybe that is part of the message DH was trying to get to him by sitting him last game...

Nope, he was cutting and using screens but you don’t think Shaka knows he’s one of the country’s best shooter? That was their defense on him.
