We're a very good team.
But we are not a very clutch team.
And Marquette gave us chance after chance.
This. Both the players and their coach seem to get awfully flustered in important situations. I am hopeful about the tourney, but it’s easy to see a close loss happening to a team we should beat.

You can’t take the timeout home. What on earth is Hurley thinking? Just terrible execution. Hawk and AJax didn’t step up when we needed them. They were both very, very poor. We just don’t have a killer instinct.
A timeout gives the defense a chance to set up too. Going off the rebound lets you get a look in transition, semi-transition, a broken play, whatever. I don't mind that.

What I do mind is Jackson and Hawkins showing up small again. These guys are running out of time to show that they're winners.

Horrendous execution down the stretch again, it's a terrible pattern ever since Hurley took over. No points our last 5 possessions and we weren't even close on them. Can't have total no shows from Hawkins and Jackson like that.

Congrats to Marquette, they earned it.

Joey missed two open shots, it would have been great execution if they went down.

Could only watch the last 10ish minutes. Was a great game to watch as a basketball fan, but upsetting to see us chip away and chip away and not get over the hump again. Congrats Marquette for a great win

The zone worked with Clingan, not so much Sanogo. Thinking of that wide open corner 3 where he didn’t move from under the hoop. That was a weird looking zone. Seemed like we were playing zone on the left side of the court and leaving the right side alone?

Idk. We missed some good looks from 3. Fatigue? Too much pressure? Coin flip? Who knows. All I know is that we missed, and we lost. If we choose to live by the 3 and die by the 3, we better make them next week. We don’t do moral victories anymore

Hawkins needs a revenge game in NCAAT. I feel confident in a 4 seed and a run to the sweet 16 if we play to our standards. When he stepped back, I thought it was money. Credit to Jones there, flawless recovery defense. Looks like he might have got a fingertip on it

I’ve been hard on Hurley plenty this seasons. This is not the time for that. He changed defenses. He adjusted. Played Donovan a lot.

We had 2 wide open shots to win.

Issue was jackson playing absolutely terrible. And it was all foolish mental mistakes.

And Hawk missing shots he normally makes.

They got every shot they wanted. They didn’t have to make any tough shots

Nightmares about wide open Joplin - who was covering him? Also during an early time out Danny said something like you faced their best defense and they can’t sustain it. So wrong

Kolek is so good….

So good that I hate him. ( not really)
If he was in a Duke uniform, then I’d hate him(really)
Kolek should have fouled out with a little over a minute left. We had at least four fouls called on us after a defensive rebound with far less contact than Kolek trying to shove Newton out of bounds.

That said, our basketball IQ (or, more specially lack thereof) killed us tonight. We could have won going away. With two significant players having very off nights if we were just a little smarter.

Poor free throw shooting also. DH why no timeout the end? Too many minutes for hawk and AJ. And changed to Zone way too late

Me thinks he was told Jordan was to take the last shot and was afraid to take it. Only down two and Hurley draws up a three? Why didn’t Newton take the shot when he has space with more than three seconds on the clock?

5-24 from our back court. This story happens too often. These guys just don’t have any headiness to end games.

Horrible last possession. It appeared nobody knew how much time was on the clock. We had plenty of chances with several missed open 3's from Calcaterra (one he should have taken closer to the rim) and also some misses from Hawkins. As hot as Marquette was from 3 and how ice cold we were, we lost by 2 points. We didn't play our best, and Marquette's stifling defense had a lot to do with it, but it was a great game to watch.

We needed two points in the last four minutes and no one could figure out how to get them.

Great. Just great.

I assume Danny can use that time out next week, right? Do they carry over? Can we redeem it for cash?
