What is it with the BY? First, we have JordyG suggesting that Paige looks like she's hurting. Now Caroline is moving gingerly? They're both fine. Nothing to see here.
Caroline not hurting, just not getting the ball where she used to. Maybe this is part of Geno's strategy but when Paige and Caroline come in, Paige seems to be setting the offense to get 3-point shots. Not the same motion offense. Not complaining overall but now its rare that Carolne gets the ball on a back cut. Ball mostly goes to Azzi or Paige takes the shot.

Have to agree with some of the other posters, Paige didn’t look quite right today. Hope she is fine and has a big day tomorrow!

Dude, one of my rare disagrees. Similar to other comments, Paige to me was not as fluid as in past games.
Again, I’m not talking about whether she’s fluid or played well today. My comment was specifically taking issue with a post suggesting that Paige was “hurting.” She is not hurting, and showed absolutely no sign of it in today’s game.

Anyone seen Liv?
She only played 22 minutes. 8/7 for that amount of time is IMO borderline fair. No UConn player played over 30 minutes. All hands on deck tomorrow for Villanova. 3 games in 3 days. Whose legs hold out the longest tomorrow?

And it should be going to Caroline on the cuts. The one time she got the ball like she used to she scored. She is a tough 3 to defend. She is 6'2" with a long reach and very versatile moves. She should get it with regularity underneath. It will open up everything plus she can score and hit the FTs.

Way to show 'em the glue factory ain't beckoning yet, old dude!
I thought, given the absurd differential in talent on the floor, Marquette, just from a fan-of-the-game perspective, played great. They stayed with the Huskies for the entire second half and showed terrific character and resilience. Coaches like Megan, not necessarily having access to a similar level of talent, are doing a great job of remaining relevant. Kudos to her!!!
Hopefully Megan is the first interview for the Syracuse job.
Great background, Notre Dame grad, played in the WNBA. Has coached 2 different schools to 20+ Wins each year.
Would be a homerun hire for Syracuse.

Not sure about Syracuse as a destination for women's basketball. The athletic department is currently a dumpster fire. The men's BB program is down, the men's lacrosse program is as lost as it has been in 30 years and the woman's BB program is basically starting from scratch. Oh and the football teams sucks to.

I don’t know anymore than you do whether she was hurting or not. To me, she definitely looked off somehow, perhaps frustrated, unhappy about something, or possibly hurting or not feeling quite right. I just don’t understand why you are so adamant that she (or Caroline) could not possibly be hurting? Did you personally talk with them? The poster said, “ she looked like she was hurting” . Maybe she wasn’t but that’s what it looked like to him. I certainly respect your opinion that you disagree and that you don’t think she was hurting but to say “she’s definitely not” and that “she showed absolutely no sign of it”, is perplexing.

I have a different perspective on Aaliyah. She still makes a lot of mental mistakes out there and I worry about the big games ahead against the best bigs. One time she was so far out of position the bottom of the backboard blocked her shot. She has to work on her tensile strength also. She is not a natural basketball player yet, more like an exceptional athlete playing basketball. She is still learning the game. She is however improving dramatically now with each game and while I think any exuberance should be tempered the ceiling is ridiculously high.

Even Paige made 4 3's yesterday, I thought that she was not satisfied as well. That's her body language told me.

Let me be absolutely clear. Unless we see that a player is injured during a game, or we are told either by Geno or the player themselves that they are hurting or injured, it is irresponsible and unwarranted to speculate, based solely on some feeling because the player in question didn’t have a particularly good game.

I'd start Paige and let her get a feel for the game. It's not unusual for her to feel things out before she does anything. I'd give her 30 minutes and see what happens unless she really has a bad day. Or if it is still a physical issue with cutting and such maybe give her a a day off now but I think she probably needs more PT for a while.

I didn’t think she was moving gingerly at all. It seemed a little more Maryannly to me.

Just wondering if there's going to be a separate "OMG we lost the 4th quarter" thread.
No, but if you go on the Marquette board you might see a quote we didn’t lose we just ran out of time“ thread.

I'm sure nobody consciously took the foot off the gas today, but I really think they showed Marquette in the first 20-25 minutes "You cannot win this game" and there was then a subliminal awareness of what might best be preserved for tomorrow. Marquette players were admirable in taking advantage of that, but I think if they had upped the ante a bit Uconn would have found another gear.

Concur @oldude !!!

Paige is a Player. She wants to Play. She wants to be on the court...it's her "Happy Place." I suspect she feels like a caged animal that is let out into the recreation yard for limited periods during the day. She has not come off the bench since...well, probably since the 1st day she started playing organized basketball. We know she never came off the bench in High School or as a Freshman at UConn. Geno tried to get her in again at around 7 or 8 min mark of the 2nd Quarter and there was no stoppage of play and she sat in front of the scorers table until Geno called her back to the bench with about 30 sec to go. She surely looked disappointed during that time.
I feel confident that Paige knows Geno and the Coaching Staff are trying to be careful with her, to work her back in slowly and to not do any damage to the knee or something new. She is coming along...as evidence by the game she had yesterday with 16 pts on 4 of 5 from 3pt land. She will always command the opponent's best one-on-one defender... and it will not be long (perhaps as early as tomorrow) that she takes over the game and no one will be able to stop her.

We have alot of clutch players. Today it showed. This team isnt there yet but theyre getting there. To win by 20 with Paige Azzi and Caroline having an off shooting day shows you how depth helps and how strong of a team we are. We may be getting a little tired coming off injuries and 2 straight games. Tomorrow we need to be 9 players fresh and ready to go. I have a feelin we are gonna put on a show tomorrow.
Fatigue has to be a factor, however a starting five with little bench would never have sustained the defensive pressure we showed this afternoon. I don't know if there is a perfect combination among the returnees and the seniors. They just have to get used to playing together.

The 8 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists

The 8 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists Liv?
That's the one. Numbers don't always tell the story, take Evina's game a few back with zero points but many gave her, justifiably, the BA award. Liv would tell you she hasn't played up to her potential these past two games.

I don’t reply to this sight very often, but Paige IMHO is healthy, but remember coming off surgery and inactivity over 19 games, has a strange effect on a player. The other factor she’s never come off the bench,I would say she will be 80% of the player she was until next year. In the meantime everybody relax and enjoy the ride!!!!
