Take a look at some of her games from last year and look at today's game, then tell me the same. Not only her close outs, but cutting in coverage. Her off ball pace in transition was not so good as well.
Not saying that she's at the level of last season, or even earlier this season. But she is moving better than her first few games back, and there is absolutely no indication that she's hurting.

Anyone seen Liv?
?

No issues with Liv today. The post players played well.

The biggest issue to me was Azzi's shooting. They tried to get her going in the 2nd half but didn't happen. Bottom line is she needs to make shots. Paige was off but could be back-to-back games with the 2nd against a very physical team.

Her movement last game was better than today. Take a look. Generally with knee injuries your straight ahead speed is less affected than stopping, starting, and cutting. When see straight ahead speed is affected, I worry.

Like the middle film or novel in a trilogy, sometimes.
I was going to be less complimentary, but I think this sums it up quite well. Will leave it at this.

A good solid win.

Kudos to Marquette. They got their butts kicked in the 1st quarter and fought the rest of the way.

Paige and Azzi not pouring in the points - no problem. Dorka, E, Christyn & Aaliyah get it done. Defensively, Marquette really played our guards close. Made no difference. We have 9 players who can burn you on any given night.

Really good defense in the first half. Down a little in the second half.

Kudos to Nika for making Marquette pay by not guarding her.

Finals here we come!

I thought the refs were terrible as per usual - two or three of the offensive fouls down low, the secondary defender clearly was in the restricted arc. And then they never called the moving screens on Marquette while they called two on Uconn. That said - great win and pretty good ball being played even with Fudd struggling.

Yeah , Myles appeared to be playing rugby out there, but I was happy to see Duffy pull her immediately after her second foul with the little extra.

Evina and Christyn are playing like seniors and Dorka is playing really well and we are finally also seeing the return of the Aaliyah from last year. And I am really happy with the way Nika is playing too.

You're entitled to your opinion. I watched both games closely. Paige scored more points last game. Many were wide open 3's that all she had to do was catch and shoot. She moved better this game against a much more aggressive opponent.

Way to show 'em the glue factory ain't beckoning yet, old dude!
I thought, given the absurd differential in talent on the floor, Marquette, just from a fan-of-the-game perspective, played great. They stayed with the Huskies for the entire second half and showed terrific character and resilience. Coaches like Megan, not necessarily having access to a similar level of talent, are doing a great job of remaining relevant. Kudos to her!!!
Yes, she keeps it close. No disrespect, but I’m tired of Marquette. IMO, they’re that troublesome YMCA team that is always a pain in the butt and you never look good against. She reminds me of the Don Johnson character in Tin Cup that comes up to the 18th hole, a par 5, down by 2, and he lays up. That strategy may insure him of 2nd place but no chance of winning. Marquette down by 20 with 2 minutes to go in the game runs the shot clock down to the buzzer before shooting.
I know there are 100 good reasons why they play that way but I think a team always has to play to win the game. I guess that’s why I’m where I am and she’s where she is.

I thought in the 2nd half Marquette got even more physical in the paint defensively and even put in players to "body up" Liv.
I thought Marquette played fairly well defensively not giving UConn many unguarded three point shots.......it was important for UConn to experience that after so many easy offensive efforts......there will be very few if any easy games from here on in......

There was not a player Uconn put on the floor that played badly. Shooting comes and goes, good defense and team play does not.
Like South Florida with Fudd, by and large Bueckers got wide open shots yesterday and made them and the “Paige is back“ brigade came out of the woodwork; give her a break, she is coming back from a serious injury and it will take the time it takes for her to come all the way back.
Fudd appears to be a streak shooter but takes good shots and there is nothing about her game that hurts you even if she is off.
As Husky Nan pointed out, Ducharme may have lost her offensive mojo a bit but I’ll say the same thing, she doesn’t hurt you one iota even when not scoring.
This is no one or two person team and I get a kick out of the “oh, horrors, we lost the 2nd half” lamenting.
I commented when the game ended in the chat room, that I remember the dismissive attitude many posters had about the teams 2nd half against Oregon, saying it was meaningless and only made the final score deceptively close; well, Marquette plays the 2nd half today with the same pride and intensity and the Uconn sky is falling - personally I don’t think so.

I feel like the tempo in our half court offense to too fast. The movement is great. Lots of cutting, some good penetration, drives to the hoop and dishes. To me it’s like a band that’s just playing a little quick. Shooter tempos are too quick, like Azzi’s. Sometimes they miss a good look because they’re in too big of a hurry.
I think back to the undefeated Indiana team in the 70’s. Their offense was a meat grinder. I wonder if this team could be like that.

What a very fine game. Dorka and Evina coming off of the bench for 27 points. Substitutions that make meaningful contributions. Starting five that plays killer defense. All this because Paige was out for 18 gaimes. Chrystyn and Edwards just playing consistently well. Very pleased, indeed.

Everyone wants it to be easy all the time. It’s unthinkable that any team would dare compete with us and not simply roll over.

Totally agree, with the nine player rotation Geno has going for him now, there seems to be an added bonus, could all nine players not have a good shooting day/night?

This game would have been over earlier, like the first half, if the refs had called the game the same both ways. It seemed that if UConn touched a player a foul was called while Marquette got away with pushing and shoving players and no call. They had twice as many moving screens then UConn and only had one of them called. The Big East needs to start punishing the bad refs by limiting their games.
