In 6 vs 11 games, #6 has won 66 and lost 26 (72%).
I just ran the stats for the tournaments since the 1994 expansion to a 64-team field (but not including this year's games), and this was what I came up with (winning percentage of higher-seeded team):
  • 1 vs. 16: 99%
  • 2 vs. 15: 100%
  • 3 vs. 14: 100%
  • 4 vs. 13: 94%

  • 5 vs. 12: 78%
  • 6 vs. 11: 71%
  • 7 vs. 10: 66%
  • 8 vs. 9: 48%
For the top 4 seeds, an additional factor that has surely boosted their winning percentage is the home-court advantage they've enjoyed in the majority of those games.

For seeds 5-8, the vast majority of their first-round games have been played on neutral courts.

I can hear her just fine, and she has great commentary. One of the all-time legends of the game.

I realize she is an all time great player, and an ambassador for the game. She obviously knows basketball. I can understand her, but I do find it slightly distracting.

Thanks for crunching those numbers Plebe. I wonder if it's trending a little bit towards more upsets in recent years? I would guess so, but I'm not positive about that. Didn't realize that #2 and #3 are both perfect in the first round.

Switching to Stanford-Gon zaga in my area. Looking forward to an entertaining game.

Here's the data per year (data entries reflect winning percentage of higher-seeded team):

Thanks, I was going by the Wikipedia page, which is about a year or so behind in spots.

She seems to have insightful things to say, but she's mumbling so much its a challenge to decipher what is being said. Unfortunate. Now I can't grab another beer or I'll really miss what she's saying.
Most services allow you to turn on Closed Captioning if you have difficulty understanding the announcers. I can understand Tamika OK without CC; maybe it's a matter of getting used to it. She does a lot of SEC games.

A bit of a turnover fest so far. Stanford up 8-7 at the first media TO. Barta had 5 quick points. GU is going to have to get some other players producing today. Second leading scorer Rice went to the bench already w/ 2 fouls.

Thanks Plebe. At a casual glance I don't see any trends, seems a bit random from year to year.

Mississippi State losses a few guards. After this season is over. It will be interesting to see the guard play next year.

Somebody forgot to tell Stanford they are a poor 3 point shooting team. Kiana Williams w/ a pair and Carrington hit 1. 14-9.

One of the Wirth twins has scored GU's last 6 points.

Creighton - Iowa 26-25, 2nd Q. I haven't seen Megan Gustafson play before.
Miss State slow start against a no 16 team but now pulled comfortably ahead. Similar to LVol slow starts, I guess.

I used to find her very difficult to understand. Now, for me, she's easier to comprehend than Van Chancellor or Andy Landers.

It's getting easier the longer I listen! Thanks!

Stanford pulling away 32-20. Kiana Williams has hit 16 of her last 21 behind the arc. That's ridiculous! Including 3-3 today.

Stanford leading 47-36 at halftime. That's high scoring for them.

Stanford owning the glass. McPhee's shot is off but Kiana Williams has 11 and Carrington has 10 off the bench.

GU getting a huge boost from Loera off the bench w/ 12. Barta has 11 but they've made life difficult for her. She scored 5 almost instantly, been held in check since then.
