He was playing the position Hurley recruited him for.He was playing out of position all year unfortunately for him and UConn but Hurley had no choice.

Yeah but that was clearly not the right position and Hurley admitted it during the season that is was like fitting square peg in round hole with putting Mahaney at PG. Unfortunately he had no choice as Nowell wasn't an effective backup. He was playing the position Hurley recruited him for.
Just another reminder that NIL isn't for on court performance...I don’t think the criticism is necessarily that AM wasn’t good, it was that he wasn’t good AND he was making a good chunk of change to not be good based on his rumored NIL package. You want to get paid like a star, you better BE a star. IMO anyway.

I wish him well. Hopefully he kicks butt there. I always felt bad for him that it didn't work out at UConn. He seemed like a nice kid with a good attitude and was always a great teammate.
If you haven’t seen the campus lagoon up close you haven’t lived. Magical city. That seems like a pretty dope place to be for senior year. Wishing him the best of luck.
UCSB is less about hoops and more about Ynez, the surf and the Catalina wine mixer.Last year their senior night was against UC Irvine in front of 2,300. Enjoy that.

Solo ball had no problem running point when called upon to do, so and that wasn’t his natural position. There is a difference between not being a great pg and not being able to bring the ball up the court turning it around over. Everyone thought the floor of missing on that position change for Mahaney was much higher than it ended up being. It is more than just the position change. He just never looked comfortable at UConn. I think he will play much better in a different environment.Yeah but that was clearly not the right position and Hurley admitted it during the season that is was like fitting square peg in round hole with putting Mahaney at PG. Solo Ball never really played PG for us. He brought the ball up a few times but barely initiated the offense. He almost always had Diarra, Mahaney or Nowell playing PG. I mean if your deseription of PG is bringing up the ball then Ross played PG too. LOL! Hurley amitted it wasn't his natural position he is more a creator that can play with a natural PG. Mahney was pretty sucessful against big clubs before but he wasn't asked to be the main intiator of a complex offense from playing in St. Mary's.Solo ball had no problem running point when called upon to do, so and that wasn’t his natural position. Was there and it is an amazing campus but also pretty close to Neverland RanchUCSB is less about hoops and more about Ynez, the surf and the Catalina wine mixer.
I don’t entirely agree.Solo ball had no problem running point when called upon to do, so and that wasn’t his natural position.
