we all should be angry that the ACC didn't invite uconn in the past. but i don't think it will crumble and if they invite uconn soon, it would strengthen the conference. uconn in the acc makes sense.

The Big East has a new and more lucrative media rights package that will expand platform options for conference games. The new six-year deal begins in 2025 with NBC Sports and TNT Sports joining main league partner Fox Sports as content providers.

It's like trying to convince someone that the earth isn't flat. You're just going to get frustrated. He doesn't even comprehend that having around 200,000 UConn fans within New York's city limits is extremely significant.

If those same 200,000 people made their own city in Connecticut, it would be it the most populated city in our state...

The Big 12 had the dog and pony expansion show back in what 2016 and most of us knew it was a mistake for the conference to stand pat. Texas and Oklahoma were likely leaving someday but everyone thought they were safe. Texas and Oklahoma left and the only thing that saved the Big 12 was the PAC imploding. Who knows what would have happened if the Big 12 invited UConn and a few others back then.

The ACC just sucks at realignment. Period. There are no P conference programs looking to move to the ACC and it continues to ignore one of the most valuable brands today.

UConn went back-to-back and took the heels behind the woodshed in the Fenway Bowl. We can't ask for more than that. I'm sure we'll hear rumblings again which will be another huge time suck so what the hell. pass the popcorn.

The problem for us is that we beat the life out of UNC right in BC's back yard and out-drew BC's fan base in the same building (year over year) by a wide margin. This only reinforces BCs fear and their stance that they can't let us in. They know it would be the death of their programs...

We were sitting near a fan who was completely dressed in Boston Bruins winter gear, with just a UConn hat. Another woman with red sox gear. Some fans are just sports fans looking to feast with a winner. If you have UConn, they will come. The ACC has whiffed at every opportunity and is barely treading water right now.

UConn is loved in Fairfield County. There are many of us who support UConn and go to games. The issue is the ridiculous traffic starting at 3 PM on the Merritt and I 95. For Basketball games and night games at the Rent makes a reasonable drive into a nightmare. Maybe more train options to Hartford game day and shuttle buses to the Rent or Gampel.

That would be short-sighted. A nearby rival would build local interest. Just like St John's makes money from UConn games in MSG, BC would make money from games with UConn.

They were probably happy that they were able to replace UMass with UConn next year. The fact that they seek UConn games on their schedule suggests they might not oppose our entry to the ACC. I think they know the ACC is in trouble and anything that strengthens it will help preserve the goose that's been laying golden eggs for them.

It wouldn't be any different than their shortsightedness in 2011 when they fought to keep us out. I hope you're right that perhaps new leadership there could lead to a different outcome, but I won't hold my breath...

For years I had pined to join the ACC. Our Olympic sports would have benefitted, particularly baseball, field hockey, men’s and women’s soccer and women’s lacrosse. Travel would be easier than that to the B1G.

But I now think the ACC is going to be in such disarray that the B1G is our “best” landing zone. Sure, if only the ACC comes calling, it beats football independence. But the B1G is where we ultimately want to be.

Although, as a longtime season ticketholder, I’d sure miss Hockey East.

Considering the B1G media/conference payouts are like double the ACC at this point, that's a no brainer - it's just not going to happen

They avoided scheduling us then, they seek to schedule us now. The ACC has diminished in value and UConn has grown in value, just by maintaining its football place in spite of adversity while actually enhancing its basketball value.

So first, you said that Connecticut had no presence in the NYCDMA. Apparently you are not aware that about a third of Connecticut's population is a part of the NYCDMA.

Apparently, you've never been to a Connecticut game at MSG either. If you had you would be acutely aware of how big a Connecticut presence there is at our games there.

I really have to laugh about how pitiful someone's life must be that they go on a teams fan site to troll. It's pretty sad, but at least if you're going to do it, maybe spend like five minutes on Google or something and actually learn something about us.

I was always talking about New York City. Not NY area. I grew up in CT then lived for 15 years in NYC from 1990 through 2004. NYC like any other major city like LA, San Francisco, Chicago, and even Miami are Pro sport cities. Are there like 200k UConn fans in a city of 8 million (Dan97 estimate). Sure that seems possible. You mention MSG. It holds 20,000 for a basketball game. In a city of 8 million that is a pretty small percent. But that is not a significant presence which you and others keep stating. Not going to respond to another post on this subject since it appears the meaning of significant presence has a different meaning to me.

I still think in metro NYC UConn and perhaps Rutgers can draw a reasonable crowd. Our friends at Syracuse haven't done as well from what I have seen.

I would say UConn would draw a much bigger crowd than Rutgers given how good the men and women basketball teams have been. Rutgers is not even followed extensively in NJ.

Memo to Yormark: UConn has enjoyed a rare above-average year in football, has won a bowl game, and has now concluded that it's too good for the B12. Please look elsewhere for expansion candidates.

Exactly. 200.000 sets of eyeballs is a lot of eyeballs. It's like he thinks you need 20% or something to have a "significant" percentage. You don't. 200K is significant. It's probably more than the Connecticut fanbase. How many people actually care about any team?
