apparently the contract we just offered would have made him top 5 highest paid but that could be as low as 5.7 mill per year according to this article

if we cant come up with the money and he leaves because of it i'm 100% done with college sports. this is why we werent invited to a power conference. we beat everyone's asses on a level playing field so they made it too expensive for us to compete.

I can't see how they would have possibly offered him less than $100 million. As with Kentucky, if this is entirely about the money then of course he's going to go to LA. LA or Storrs, Andrew Hurley's grandkids won't have to work if they don't want to.
