Was not asking for a fight. Just a question. I don't like coaches thats fine and I don't need to defend her as a Coach, but because her resume does that for her. It was a simple a question. If you make statements like you made then you have to expect questions to it.

There are coaches who have great resumes, but they are pukes. Mostly in the men's game. She's not my cup of tea and I do not think much of her player development or in game coaching skills, but that is a whole 'nuther discussion.

My interpretation of her comments, given the context, was that she was referring to Boothe. Regardless, she said she doesn't have to suspend or bench her players and then she did. It's just Kim being Kim.

I think it took a lot of "courage of ones convictions" to sit Rellah Boothe. Not saying that Kim is the only coach who would do it, but there aren't many. And while it certainly helps to not have to worry about being fired, for upper echelon coaches the downside of benching potential superstars is loss of a championship, not loss of a job.

I am so lost what does Rellah Boothe have to do to with Mulkey? Doesn't she play for Aston?

Hold on!.... Can't let you get away with using "potential superstar" and rellah Boothe in the same paragraph. Rellah is sitting because she can't play. there is no courage in that.

I confess to confusing whom Rellah plays for (or more accurately doesn't play for) but I don't think she "can't" play. I agree that she hasn't showed much this year. I don't know why, but I don't think that lack of ability is the reason.

I thought she played pretty well against Baylor for somebody woefully out of shape who doesn't like to practice................:rolleyes:

But watching the video, it seems as if she slipped on a wet floor (someone's perspiration?). The foot just went out from her so quickly and usually sneakers offer some resistance.

To me, it looked as though she planted her foot to decelerate, but her leg was straight, so the knee joint took all of the impact. Then, she immediately pulled her foot up due to pain. I'd guess there's a torn tendon in there somewhere. :(

It's fair for you to have that opinion on the 2nd highest win percentage coach that is active.

I think Wallace is a great kid, and I'm sick about the fate that has befallen her. I'd love to see her back to form for the NCAA tourney. Having said that, since this, inexplicably, has become a thread about Kim, I have trouble understanding what provokes all the animus against her. In the world of athletics, most of the featured players are hopelessly bland, and they give voice to such an interminable and stultifying train of cliches that they can induce sleep in the most confirmed insomniac. I have a son who can do a hilarious "shtick" on coaches' cliches that goes on for a good thirty minutes that drags them out ad nauseum. Kim, on the other hand, is endlessly entertaining, and she happens to be a helluva coach. Even my wife, whose knowledge of, and whose affinity for, sports hovers perpetually around the zero level will sit down to watch Kim, her antics, her clothing, and her footwear in particular. We need "characters" in sports to break the monotony. If they can do that and if they happen also to be pretty damn good at what they do, well, shouldn't we applaud that?
 
Personally, I think it is bad " karma " to be discussing the injury of another team's key player on this forum.

This didn't really endear her to me. But mostly I have the same irritation with her as I do other overly demonstrative coaches. Obviously, she is one heck of a coach.

Same. That, and the allegations made by Griner about Mulkey keeping her closeted, and Emily Niemann's negative experience there being gay didn't leave me feeling all that good about Kim.

I am not in any way defending Mulkey but I think the reason she "kept" Griner closeted was because of the school's claim of being "A top Texas Christian University", thus it was probably the school doing the "keeping". And we know what this top Texas Christian University thinks of sexual assault and violence against women...

Now back to Kristy Wallace's injury....

Not sure how it would hurt recruiting tho...but that's an entirely different subject and has nothing to do with the OT.

The entire University used to have a policy against it. Being a Baptist College. However, it has since been lifted. Softball players had to stay quiet as well. Texas is still very conservative and so is Waco. Wasn't just a Mulkey thing it was a campus wide thing. Thank fully it has all been lifted within the last few years.

Mainly the small rural towns and areas. The larger Cities Austin, Dallas, Houston, etc are a lot more progressive.
