Kim English OUT as Providence’s HC

They had a chance to hire him when English was hired. Now would be lots more money and if you are Pitino, why give up the NYC stage/limelight?

UConn should go after Jones in backcourt.
I’m pretty sure when he was hired Rick said he took the job because he didn’t have to move from his house in Westchester (winged foot I believe ) If he had to move he didn’t want a job.

Trust me, after Cooley the President of the college did not want a coach having sex with waitresses under the table. In my view he should have hired Pitino.

A weird twist to the plotline:

Sendek has done a lovely job at Santa Clara, but I'm sure Friars fans wouldn't be too keen to add a 63 year old as their next HC.

It’s a smoke screen for Billy Donovan to get involved, bring Sendek as an assistant, and Billy’s kid as an assistant to groom him.

.-.
Herb Sendek has always done a really good job at every stop, just hasn’t had the one major moment to be a hot, household name.

it's a mid-major program riding the coat tails of a Final Four appearance when Reagan was president.
Haha. They’ve done a little more than that since 1987, starting with 13 tournament appearances. Highlights included:

1994 - Big East championship
1997 - Elite 8
2014 - Big East championship
2022 - Big East champs (reg season) + Sweet 16

Not everyone is UConn. For the rest of the world, that’s pretty good.

That’s cute.

Yes Winged foot. West course I believe. He lives on something like the 12th hole. He stated he wanted the short commute.

Fantastic course by the way.

I’d imagine Cuse fans are now coming up with reasons why Hodgson is a bad fit but I’ll enjoy some schadenfreude from with this news.
You're not completely wrong. On Discord they're currently in the coping phase of Gerry McNamara turning them down and saying they'd prefer Luke Murray anyway

.-.
USF has an OCS (football) opening for the 2027 season. If the money’s there, it’s a hell of a lot better of a gig than Providence. It’s at best a lateral move. If he can recruit well at South Florida, the Big Ten and SEC will come calling.

I didn't even know McNamara turned them down. Lol I thought for sure he would want to go back to his alma mater.

Shows you how bad of a job it's become when a former player is turning them down for Sienna.

Recruit? What are you talking about? Almost all that matters for recruiting now is money. Football is a massive money sucker for athletic programs and it is likely that most Big East jobs are better than the bottom P4 jobs because Providence doesn’t have to pay for an 85+ player football roster and there is no competition for NIL dollars.

Providence has the entire state of Rhode Island to work with for NIL. What the fudge does Syracuse have? Factories that closed in 1982 don’t pay NIL.

He hasn't turned them down yet, and might not. It's more them trying to get ahead of being rejected at the altar again
