Potential fits aside, hasn’t Hurley made it pretty clear he’s not for going after players from other Big East rosters?

I'm not sure what Bobby's situation is at ASU but if he becomes available, I could see PC hiring him just to get under Danny's skin.

To go on a tangent, I don't think Bobby would come to the Big East. He isn't exactly lighting it up in Tempe and Dan is the Big Dog in the Big East. The Big XII is a really tough conference and the Sun Devils are not getting it done
Syracuse? Bobby would return to the ACC but going up against duke would be very strange, especially knowing he can't beat duke
Rutgers? Coach in his home state of NJ in the Big Ten but it would take a miracle to win there
Atlantic 10? That may make sense. Lot's of options closer to home both near NJ and NC and if he can win there, then he can look to move again

I know Danny has a policy of not poaching players from conference rivals but when English is gone and PC doesn’t have a coach he’s not poaching, as the PC players will be leaving anyway due to their not knowing who the replacement will be.

5 tournament appearances at Providence is solid. I don’t know why you would expect the coach of Providence to routinely get out of the first weekend. They don’t have that kind of history.

Cooley has won only 3 NCAA Tournament games total in TWENTY SEASONS as a head coach. That's not solid, thats awful.

Vaaks is an interesting case. I absolutely think he has star potential, but his decision making is WILD. He’d have stretches where he looks like Luka Doncic and then follow it up with 10 minutes of looking like 6’7 Jared Bynum

With the right coaching, I don’t see why he wouldn’t be able to reel it in and become a really good player. But this quote, as funny as it is, makes me think he wants to put up a million shots

To be fair though, English is not his first language. He might have said those things in his native Estonian language and it might not have perfectly translated to English. If he responded in English he might have meant to say it another way rather than the way it sounded, but his limitations in speaking English might have prevented that. To be clear, I am not knocking his English speaking, he is very fluent and conducts the press conference more than adequately.

I don't really see what's crazy about what Vaaks said, I guess the word "weaker" is what is drawing the laughs but it's obvious what he meant. More kids need to be choosing schools based on fit/opportunity instead of just going with the best offer.

Not sure if it was already posted but in The Athletic's report on English's pending ouster they listed Luke Murray amongst 6 potential candidates

Luke Murray, assistant coach, UConn: It’s only a matter of time until Murray gets a high-major gig, so he can afford to be choosy. And while Big East jobs don’t come open every day, will he really want to jump to a league rival? As a candidate, though, Murray is one of the sharpest offensive minds in college basketball, and the 40-year-old has been integral to the Huskies’ success on that end of the floor.

The timing of Providence’s opening complicates things. Would Murray leave a potential national title team before the NCAA Tournament, like when Jai Lucas left Duke in March last year for Miami? Murray would almost have to if he wants to be competitive in year one with the Friars. This would be a coup for Providence — but maybe not the best fit (or timing) for Murray.
