This is the reason why we need to get into some kind of scheduling alliance. P4 conferences will increase their conference games due to media company requirements. It will be harder or harder to schedule going forward.
SMU is still surrounded by people who believe they can purchase things like success, credibility and status. They could vey well be correct, time will tell.

They're both small schools with some wealthy grads, SMU has less undergrads and a smaller endowment than TCU. They're very similar academically, SMU probably has a slight advantage.
If you're looking at USNews maybe similar academically but if you're looking at the strength of programs and departments and their reputations, it's SMU far and away
Really? In SMU's heyday before the death penalty, they had a hard time attracting 30k fans per game unless they were playing Texas or Texas A&M. The poor fanbases at TCU, Houston, SMU, and Rice is why they were left behind when the Big 12 was formed.
And SMU never would've had those good years without their rampant cheating. They sucked before it and they sucked after it.

They bring the Dallas market, although that's like saying BC brought the Boston market and Syracuse and Rutgers brought the NYC market. Also some inroads into recruiting in Texas.
I know you're being sarcastic, but it is definitely true that the University has no control over boosters. The only threat there was that they could hurt the program, which they did. Now everybody wants those boosters setting up NIL. It's wild how much has changed.What really sucks is the university had no control over the actions by its boosters, coaching staff and university administration which led to the death penalty.

I don't disagree, but you could apply that statement to every school in TX and we'd be naive to think they were the only school doing it, then or since. Their problem was they were the right size for the NCAA to make an example and not have to expose the big offenders and kill the golden goose. I think we can relate.
