Key tweets, and it's all gone to Hell.

That's actually even better news for UConn.

Cincy, UConn, UCF and USF would be solid to work with at 14. Build the Big 14 from there. Add Tulane, Rice, Temple, etc down the road.

Can also add Tulane instead of UCF for now for academic value.

Here is the full nda.

A lawyer on the byu board posted that releasing the NDA would be a violation of the agreement especially Schedule A where they disclose who is on a need to know basis.

Also said it shows a complete lack of professionalism and they should probably terminate negotiations if they haven't already.

Yeah, somebody just screwed up big-time. This disclosure could come back to haunt Memphis in any future CR negotiations, too. Once you seem untrustworthy with confidential information, it casts a long shadow. Wow.

I'm pretty sure the AAC is their ceiling anyway.

It looks like they disclosed solely to claim they can't confirm not making the cut.

Well, at least they're proving that the Big 12 can recognize some level of academic/organizational competence, and weed out unsuitable candidates. You can't make this stuff up, huh?

You would also think that if the big 12 was still considering them they would have slipped something to some reporter to refute the report.

Wait, Memphis posted the NDA? Are they morons?

In response to an FOIA request. Do any of our in-house lawyers here know if NDAs are exempt from FOIA requests and they could have just denied the request?

No, they are not morons, they are attending the University of Memphis High School! ...and this is just the first day of school...what, the NDA is not the national department of attendance, damn, where's my syllabus!

NDAs probably aren't exempt, this one gives instructions to the school to notify if there is a disclosure request so the conference can also fight it, though. There is nothing particularly damning in the NDA, it just confirms the two parties are in discussions about the "Project".

Whether they're exempt or not, they released it for plausible deniability. We've worked with UConn's FOI compliance people, and nothing ever gets released that fast. They released the NDA because they wanted to have cover so they wouldn't have to confirm that they're out.

The only reasons I can think of for that are that they think they might be able to change someone's mind or the Big 12 talk has helped in soliciting donations and selling season tickets, and they want to milk that a little longer.

I don't get his raving about Houston's campus either. Someone should send him some videos of UConn's campus and facilities.
Perhaps one of the Twitteristas on the board should send him The View from Above?

He said he would be writing profiles of the candidates periodically. Easier to do the schools closest to you first.

I am curious about the implied premise on the B-12 championship game sponsorship (as offered by FedEx):. Was that offer so good because it would be considerably beyond what normal sponsorship rights would cost (try getting that past a board of directors) or does the B-12 not warrant a legitimate fee for sponsorship rights without favoritism being part of the deal?

I've been to houston's campus. He's crazy. It's nice for a comm college, but it is a terrible college campus. It is on the fringe of a very bad area and essentially is a series of bad buildings dotting a campus removed from the city. It is a nice fb stadium, but he was either smoking something funny, drunk or bring paid to write that piece.
