Ah, I wasn't aware of that. It's an appointed position here in New Jersey. In CT (and 42 other states), the AG is an elected position.

I don't agree on the NBA as their sources of talent are more diverse. In last year's draft, half of the top 12 picks never played college basketball and 18/30 first round picks either never played college basketball or were one and dones. The NBA and NFL should all be a part of this. The fact that they have operated a minor league and benefitted from this development is abominable. They are exploiting the amateur system to develop their players. MLB has minor leagues and there are indy leagues. Soccer had development league and schools. hockey has juniors in Canada.
NFL is valuation is over $200 billion. It's worth more than the semiconductor AMD. I mean, it is crazy the NFL doesn't put any money in since that sport benefits. If NFL went up for sale, all 32 teams and the rights etc. Wonder if NFL went public?
True basketball has become an international sport .I don't agree on the NBA as their sources of talent are more diverse. In last year's draft, half of the top 12 picks never played college basketball and 18/30 first round picks either never played college basketball or were one and dones.
And yet, predictably.
We have debates ad nauseum about guys leaving early and whether they are ready. It almost always comes down to, the kids will get better preparation playing in the NBA than they will playing another year of college ball with the hassles of going to school.True basketball has become an international sport .
Either way The NBA is only minimally in the development of young players .
They’re not investing millions into guys who won’t pan out .
I saw Bouknight when he was sent down to Greensboro and sat there pouting when they played Westchester in Bridgeport. He is one that needed to stay in school. We have debates ad nauseum about guys leaving early and whether they are ready. It almost always comes down to, the kids will get better preparation playing in the NBA than they will playing another year of college ball with the hassles of going to school.
Exhibit Bouknight: Lots of debate on these boards. Signed for over $4 million/year and it didn't pan out.
From a solely selfish point of view: if I’m UConn I’d say no way. A successful Memphis in football and Big East basketball puts them in pole position over UConn for an ACC or Big 12 place. If I’m the Big East I would demand an astronomical exit fee if Memphis joined.I would have no problem with Memphis joining the big east for their Olympic sports only. We need another solid basketball team. A good basketball conference should have four solid teams, if not more.
I get that but all other members of the BE would not.bring on Memphis. I'd rather play Memphis in bball than DePaul, Butler, Seton Hall.
Memphis to the Big East would not be until 2027 at the earliest.

That may be the way the P4 views any Big East school. Why bother? We shouldn’t be doing any favors for AAC schools.
