Key tweets, and it's all gone to Hell.

If only ESPN were headquartered in Connecticut, then maybe state legislators could do something to make it worth their while. Oh wait.
In 2016, Gov. Malloy talked to ESPN.

Malloy Reached Out To ESPN On Behalf Of UConn In Big 12 Expansion Debate

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy reached out to ESPN to push for support of UConn's bid to gain entrance into the Big 12 Conference, according to two sources.

One source said that Malloy spoke to ESPN President John Skipper by phone in August. The second source said that while he did not know of a specific phone call, he said that Malloy was working on the UConn-Big 12 expansion issue because "it's good for basketball. It's good for football. It's good for the state.''

"The governor did speak with John Skipper, president of ESPN, and just as he did in a letter to Big 12 commissioner [Bob] Bowlsby, explained that UConn's strong academic and athletic program would make it an incredible asset to the Big 12."

Skipper then called Bowlsby, according to a source, and while maintaining the position that ESPN preferred no expansion, told the Big 12 commissioner if the league did add teams, that as corporate citizens in Connecticut, ESPN would appreciate that UConn be given all due consideration.

If there's anyone that has the best interest of college sports at heart is the multi billionaire oil tycoon.

We would prefer you did not expand, but since we're a corporation in the state of Connecticut, we're going to ask that you give them all to consideration.

What the [Expletive Deleted] was that? They pretty much said yeah we're asking for you to give them to consideration because we have to, but we don't want you to do it.

ESPN should be (metaphorically) burned to the freaking ground.

Benedict's complete athletic department.

Last 2 calendar sports years-

Men's basketball- 2023 and 2024 NCAA Champions, 2024 Big East champions
Women's basketball- 2025 NCAA Champions, 2024 Final Four, 2024 and 2025 Big East champions

Football- 9 wins, 2024 Fenway bowl win

Baseball- 2024 Super regional, knocking on door of World Series, just cliched another BE Regular season title
Men's Hockey- top 10 finish, 2025 Elite 8, an overtime away from the Frozen Four, Hockey East finalist

Softball- 2025 NCAA Tournament, Big East champs
Women's Soccer- 2024 NCAA Tournament, Big East champs
Field Hockey- 2024 NCAA Tournament, Big East Champs
Women's Ice Hockey- 2024 NCAA Tournament, Hockey East champs

The only 3 team sports that failed to make the NCAA Tournament this past 2 calendar seasons- Men's soccer, volleyball, women's lacrosse. They did have winning seasons.

Our athletic dept. has never had this much depth. It was the basketball programs with field hockey/soccer and the Edsall football teams. Now it's pretty much all the teams doing something. A testament to Benedict, his hires, and the complete rebuilding of athletics facilities on campus.

Track & Field has been excellent

Interesting that ACC so much higher than B12
You have to analyze the numbers to figure out what is going on. For the Big 12, Texas and Oklahoma received full shares and they added 4 schools, although at reduced shares. And, you have 3 schools joining the ACC at lower or zero share with a revenue boost to the ACCN. Basically, the ACC and Big 12 get about the same from the CFP and bowls and they have similar media contracts. The difference in payout is the ACCN which is still being sold as part of the cable bundle.

The two key questions to better understand the ACC vs Big 12 payouts in the coming years are:
1) What will the ACCN revenues be in the future as cord cutting continues?
2) What will the Big 12 media contract be after 2030/2031?

Those numbers are for last school year. FY 24 would be the payouts received for July 1, 2023 - June 30, 2024 for most conferences (although the PAC 12 had an odd August 2, 2024 date for their contract).

So these figures have Texas and Oklahoma in the Big 12, the entire 12 team PAC 12 in its final year, and the B1G and SEC at 14 teams each.
