San Diego state? Probably notAgain, when the P2 or P3 break away and form their own tournament, no one is questioning the validity of it because SDSU or Gonzaga isn't invited.
if they get UTEP, Tex St, and Tarleton, that's 3 schools in TX which is not a terrible place to be..
Surprised MWC is going after an FCS school vs. just grabbing NMSU.
I believe technically they would need one more full member including football. So the PAC now has enough teams to meet the criteria for being a conference if / when they announce UConn football only?
Isn't the requirement 8 full members? So the PAC now has enough teams to meet the criteria for being a conference if / when they announce UConn football only?
Isn't the requirement 8 full members?
Tarleton is in the UAC football conference (a combo of WAC & ASUN schools). The plan was for the conference to move up in next few years. (But they keep losing teams: 3 moved up to CUSA, 3 went back to Southland.) The conference has basically served as a signal "we are ready to move up."Isn't Tarleton in the middle of upgrading as we speak (could have sworn I read more than a year ago that they were making the move). This fell into place nicely for them.
The PAC now can be considered an NCAA conference with 8 full members, but they are not considered an FBS conference until they have 8 full football-playing membersGonzaga will be a full PAC member, they just don't have a football team, just like Providence is a full BE member sans baseball. Maybe, I don't know.
I think the 8 team requirement comes from the FBS regs. So it's 8 full, football playing members... But who really knows at this pointGonzaga will be a full PAC member, they just don't have a football team, just like Providence is a full BE member sans baseball. Maybe, I don't know.
Gonzaga will be a full PAC member, they just don't have a football team, just like Providence is a full BE member sans baseball. Maybe, I don't know. Regardless, it seems like a dumb outdated rule that should be challenged.
IMO Memphis is gonna regret not making the move.
That would certainly solve the problem for Memphis and UConn but I wonder if the other Big East schools would be that accommodating.Memphis to PAC for football (along with UConn) and BE for basketball would be a win/win. BE basketball could use another good basketball brand.
And you're expecting Memphis can recommend a school with a good basketball brand?Memphis to PAC for football (along with UConn) and BE for basketball would be a win/win. BE basketball could use another good basketball brand.
Rule number 1. GulpThis is the signal that we might get a FB only invite. This is also the right move for the PAC-12.
